we ended up making a couple decent runs. I was running rains #2 engine, dad had his usual stuff. I found a broken spring after this run with my car, changed all the intakes, then spun the tires after we waited for 2 hrs to run. They had a pretty big nostalgia funny car show tonight. We will probably go back and rent the track in a week. cw
dad went a 51 @ 158.50, I went 50 @ 155.

looks like westcott sr ran through the clutch or spun the tires to give him that "bad" 60 ft,, he was quicker than jr in every increment by i think .02,, i got if his dad hooked up,,, an 8.41 or so...
all i hope is that at maple grove neither of them runs quicker than 8.36,,, please,, though im sure neither care if the index gets hit again. my guess if its less than 500ft,, they will though.

jared,, i dont know if charlie said it here or in an email to me but that wasnt his good motor in the car,, it was john rains' #2 motor,, id expect charlies motor to be .10 quicker all day long,, maybe .12-.13.. though even at that you dont know if they threw all the tricks at it just testing at martin,, chilling, oil, and so on..
i havent been looking at time slips and all the incremental times for very long, id think if the stick car was to 60 ft like the auto, which i dont know if they can yet but im sure if jr went a 1.16, sr could go a 1.18,, then you look at the 4sp gaining on the auto all the way down i actually see that run as a 8.37-8.38,, if it left the line like i know it could.

It was on here that he posted it was Rains' #2 motor. Historically when CW "turns up the wick" on the auto car it's got anywhere between .05-.10 on the 4-speed car at the 1/4 when CW has his "good motor" in the car.
My above post was only meant to illustrate how much potential that 4-speed car has vs. an automatic car. The automatic was 3.42 @ 330 ft. The 4-speed was 3.52 @ 330 ft. If CW can (and I expect he will) find a way to get the 4-speed to stay with the automatic for the first 330, no one else will be able to run with it. My guess is CW sees the same trend and that's why he's deciding to scrap the "Warfish" and build another 4-speed car. How's my aim Charlie?

short of posting dyno sheets on here, which I wont, I can tell you that the motor of rains that I had in my car, made the same as mine did. We ran in friday night, and put it in. My dads car made what I consider a 90% run. The 60 is never any good with a stick for a number of reasons that I will keep to myself. I outran my dad by .04 at columbus, and outran him by .01 saturday with a broken spring. I find it somewhat offensive that MCH would infer that a customers motor in my car would be .10 behind mine. That is not how I operate. I put it in there to try to diagnose a problem that John is having now. The same convertor in his car is 600 rpm tighter in low gear. I ran the motor to prove to myself that wasnt it. It wasnt, it acted just like mine. I felt that it was a little lacking at high rpm, so thats when I checked the springs and decided to change them. I was ready to put it in the 40's, but it was getting late, and the duramax diesel truck that I ran in back of didnt exactly lay down some good rubber for me. I spun, shut off, and went home. If anyone looks at the 2nd rd at columbus, you can see that John went 154 to my 155. His car is not makin it happen in 330, and I plan to test it next week to see if I can figure anything out.
