In the whole 5 seconds they devoted to the SS/AH cars on the Lucas oil sportsmen show that slow film speed of the Warfish car launching was pretty sweet. Look up "HOOK" on wikepedia and that vid should be there

Enjoy your ride at the top. Nothing lasts forever.
AH cars are still hobby cars. Most of the racers in your class are running for their own enjoyment.
I'm sure many of the racers you are running against would like to put more time into their race program to be more competitive but they have other obligations. Like jobs and families.
Racing is not their top priority.
If you are getting tired of being on top I suggest like someone suggested earlier you try running Pro Stock.
I'm sure it would be a humbling experience.

I think when these guys spend 100's of thousands on their sport, it is slightly more than a hobby. Ogburn has spent a million on it at least. It is my job, and I enjoy it very much. I think allen johnson used to run SS, so its not like it cant be done. I wonder if the capps vs waltrip race will make it on TV? It should give the waltrip fans something to be happy about for a change.

I think it is more of an addiction. But my point is that since your competition isn't racing to put food on the table winning isn't their top priority in life. They are content with just running the class and hoping you have a bad day.
Do you build motors now? I was at a local cruise night and ended up talking to a fellow who is building a new AH car for next season.
I thought he said he was using your engines or your engine builder or chassis guy? Something like that.
He usually runs Chevy's with Grumpy Jenkins power.
It sounds like he might give you some competition next year.

that was probably larry perkins. He is having jennings build him a car right now. It is almost done, then he will start on mine. not sure who is doing his engines. he called me last winter, I think he is having tony depillo build him one. I am not worried. I am glad to see some new guys coming into the class though. Yes I build engines, check the website to see who I do work for. I have to add a couple to the list, but you will get the picture.
Larry is a good racer, if he can get a motor that runs, he could be a threat.

I think that is his name. If I remember correctly he is going to run a stick shift car.
I don't know him personally but we have a mutual friend.
He used to run a Pro Stock truck a few years back with Jenkins power.
I don't recall who is building his motor if it is not you. I do know that it is not Barton.
Barton is local but he did not mention him.

How fast did Charlie's customers go at INDY? Gotta give Charlie and his Dad alot of credit for doing what it takes to make both the stick car and auto car to run down the track.

I see bucky pulled out of NC. Looks like he may be coming to play. Warford was tossing it around also.
Daniels pulled out also. looks like it could be a good turnout. That would be the first big turnout for a non nhra event, and to me shows that this deal could continue on its own.

Charlie,

What is the run schedule for your guys? Will your eliminations be on Saturday and Sunday or just Saturday. My 10 year old has a baseball doubleheader on Saturday and would like to take him depending upon the schedule.

Thanks

Two Qualifiers Saturday (I think two...) and elims starting 2ish on Saturday.
