Does anybody remember the 2 Opel Gt gassers that used to run up at E-town in the early 70's?

One was gold and the other was purple, one had a blown 392 Hemi. I was hooked on Drag racing after seeing those cars as a 9 year old, I thought they were cooler than the funny cars!

I had a Yellow 73 GT in the early 80's, I always thought it was a very kewl little commuter car...i put on a progressive Weber 2 barrel and got around 29-30 MPG and was very reliable.

My stepdad had a 1969 Kadet Wagon with an 1100cc motor and the "hi-po" 2 i barrel carb set up....but that's not the best part...oh, no, not even close! This little jewel had a Powerglide!!!

I know it's been said many times and it's still true, "buy a car that's already done, you will be big money ahead".
It will take a custom chassis to make that car legal, you may have to move the wheel openings to get your 90" minimum wheelbase.
A lot of work for a not so desirable car.

Opel Kadette

I wanted one of these bad after Hot Rod did an article about them back in the 70's (Aug/Sep 73). Turned one into an autocrosser with little mods.

Heck yea, the baby Corvette. You guys reminded with this thread that there is a 440 Mopar Opel GT here in the area that was run back in the 70's that I forgot about! They make cool bracket race cars.

I'll go take a look at it later in the week. I did a little digging and the specs say it's 95" wheel base with coil springs on the rear, just a little over 2000# with the four banger.
