Two rounds of eliminations are in the books and so far, Charlie Westcott Sr. and Jr. are still well ahead of the competition. Both War Fish cars have run well into the 8.6s while most of the other drivers are running low 8.8s. Heading into the third round, here is how the ladder shapes up

Westcott Sr.
Bye

Rains vs Daniels
Westcott Jr. vs Pancake
Marvel vs. Hess

They quit televising a few years ago.

Congrats Charlie on the win and Bucky for the runner-up! Now tear down tomorrow...fun, fun.

Great final round between Hess and Westcott and it was really cool to see how much the fans really respond to the Hemi cars.

A full story should be up on NHRA.com momentarily.

Taken from NHRA.com Don't read if you don't want to...

Charlie Westcott Jr. drove his War Fish Barracuda to the SS/AH class title at Indy for the third time in the last four years. While most of his opponents were running in the 8.8-second zone, Westcott, and his father, Charlie Sr., were cranking out 8.6-second runs with alarming consistency. In the final round Charlie Jr., defeated his old nemesis Bucky Hess, 8.65 to 8.86.

Pancake ripped a .016 on Charlie Sr. in round 3 and held him off for the win. The stands were less than 1/4 full, but a roar went up after that one, much louder than anything heard at Lucas Oil Stadium last night.

Don Bales should win best engineered or best appearing, maybe both.

Congrats to War Fish on the win, he really had them covered today.

I really wish somebody would cover this stuff on a tv channel. These races have to be amazing to watch. . The engineering and teamwork that goes into each of these cars is mindblowing. Especially for 40 year old cars.. How did Danny Smith do ? Was the 67 Hemi Native American RO Coronet there ? So CW won the 10 g's for the Mopar HP challenge ? Congrat s Charlie and Bucky to make it to the finals. Man I wish I could watch 30 of these things race. Hopefully Norwalk will have a bunch in 2 weeks..

Congrats to CW for the win, and Bucky for the r/u, after his towing "excitement", glad to see him get that far.

Another comment from today, I noticed that many of the cars were running small-ish M/T radials.

Warfish was shod with GY's.

I think Danny's Motor is still down. That's why He didn't have Blackie at the Hemi Reunion.

Well i just got home from the HEMI shootout.

And it was amazing!!! I have the whole entire thing on video, including an introduction lap around the staging lanes that all of the cars drove in.

CW Jr. had the field covered, but Bucky gave it his best shot.

I was at half track for the final and from my point of view it looked like Bucky had him at half track, and Jr. pulled on him big time on the top end. That says a lot for both guys, so good job to both of you.

It was great to hang out with you and your crew all day long Bucky. And it was even fun "pushing" you up into the lanes.

This is just my opinion, but with the way Bucky was driving today, if he had his good bullet in the car, i FIRMLY believe he would have won. But i will let him tell his own buisness.

As always the HEMI shootout is just outstanding!!
