Disregarding any valvetrain issues, and looking strictly at the limits of the pistons, how high could you safely rev a stock cast piston LA 360?

I never thaught the cast piston would be an issue unless it`s the Badger junk then the wrist pins pull out through the bottom if material`s removed from that area for balancing. I figured the cast piece`s limitation would be more based on nitrous, blowers, turbos etc.

The 360 crate motors were designed to go to 6000 or so with a hypereutetic cast piston... depending on how your particular setup compares that may be a decent reference.

My old race engine has Keith Black hypereutetic pistons and I twisted that to 7500 rpms. That engine had over 200 runs on it. I went 11.80 in my Duster with that engine.

I suspect the stock rod and rod bolts connected to the stock piston would let go first but I could be wrong. If there's doubt, just get better parts.

I'd say 6000-6500, since this sounds like a pretty stock motor.

I know of a lot of NHRA "stock" class racers that rev the stock OEM Mopar pistons(before the aftermarket pistons where approved in stock) to 7000 rpms Those pistons where th original pistons, the cheater cams back then where pretty much done by 6400 RPM but some guys would rev them to 7000 to keep the converters lock up on the gear changes

with the Keith Black pistons I used to turn my engine 7100 all of the time. at the end of the 4th season I did burn one but the problem was ring seal not the piston construction.

6000 rpm. Rule of for cast pistons / crank is 3500fpm piston speed. Stroke (3.58 ) X rpm (6000) divided by 6 = 3580fpm. I'm sure there are plenty of "experts" out there that will tell you they rev ther stock 360 to 8K all the time with no problems and if they are actually doing that, they really are experts!
