Ex ports look pretty good as is. The pushrod pinch in the intake ports should be squared up and equalized to the widest point. Blend the lowest cut under the seat into the port without opening it up beyond 85% of the valve size. The short side turn is tricky to get right,be careful there even though there is much to be gained there. There was a very good article by Steve Dulcich in mopar muscle some years back, you might be able to find it online somewhere. It was a multi part article which covered the subject better than any magazine article since.Don't try to go crazy on size and you likely won't hurt anything too bad.

Looking at sixpakdodges pic..and just guessing...looks like .060+ and matched on the intake side?
Compare his pic to yours at the lower runners.

Measure the head bolt boss under the exh ports , nominally they are 1.000 , TYPICAL chamber CC on untouched heads is 90cc .

becareful messing with the shot turn .

My heads have been extensively ported and modified. They are now Max Wedge port size and closed chambered. I'm having a valve job done on them right now and will post specs when I get them back.

FWIW, these heads were done before I was born, lol!!!

Just curious...
Are you guys still using templates to do the port work that DC & MP used to sell?? Or is there a better way now?? How many hours does it take to do a pair of 906's to the max as far as you can
take them??

Fully ported aluminum heads with valve job typically takes about 16-18 hours. Cast iron stockers take a bit more time due to the need to be careful not to break through. Much harder to fix cast iron. Also it takes more time to grind out.

Nice work. This is the only pic I have of my 906's on my 63. I bet I have about 30 hrs total in them as not only did I do the bowls and ports I enlarged the seats and installed the 2.14 & 1.81 valves myself. I really dont think I can ever port another set of heads as it made my back hurt so bad bending over to work on them I could hardly stand it. I think the next eng I build I will just get some CNC aluminum heads and save my back the pain. What is the car and combo they are going on?? Ron

I found the short side radius is fairly close to the water jacket... LOL My buddy ported a set of 906s for his Charger, the car had water out one bank, took it apart and found a hairline crack on the short side radius.
I like bowl work for a street car, don't use 1.88 exhaust valves, go 2.14 and 1.81 to get the seats up, make sure the guides are good, a decent multi angle grind and basic porting for "common sense" flow and I think all is good...
