this is how this stuff gets started, a know nothing starting trouble.

Smiths engine is in larry woos car, enough said.
Defrank is making more than that, since I know him, I think I know better than you.

How much does it cost to send your heads to north korea? are there alot of dragstrips there?
Its 7:00 am here on sunday, I have been up working for an hour, maybe around 10 you can call up and talk about how much you guys know about everything.

I don't "get" the animosity on these SS/A threads; as far as I'm concerned, anyone running these cars competitively has my respect, and anyone running in the mid-8s even more so.
The timeslips tell who's doing the best job of it.
2.2HP/CI is one hell of an achievement for this configuration.
SS/AH is a fantastic class, and it takes a lot of money to do well (heck, even to show up!). Appreciate it.

I thought you changed it, I am "super stock fan"?
can I request "the man" ?

that pic is better, that must be steve morris' dyno. when can we get some pics of the new dyno at racing stables?

I hope to get rains on tonight or tomorrow.
As far as the animosity between racers (and non racing fans) I think thats what keeps it interesting when we cant race. do you all think that ronnie sox, and landy, etc. all had a big group hug before each rd? I doubt it. This isnt rodney king racing, this is my car is faster than yours. I like it, get used to it.

Maybe off topic but you guys need a break from

I have seen the way SS/AH guys launch their cars and wonder why they hate their converters so much?

They bump into the lights like a pro stock car and I don't understand why ? I could see if the class had a pro tree but with a 500 sportsman tree there is lots of time to get the engine on step.
What kind of converter temps do you guys run at the line ?
I love the class and building one also . I heard from someone that NHRA might allow rack and pinion steering for the class . Who would I contact to get the latest rules and maybe what is going to change in the near future?

Charlie,
Bench racing is fun and you certainly enjoy it. Whatever the deal is between you and Jeff is your business and maybe you guys should keep it that way. Just my opinion.. If you disagree that's fine too, I'll respect that.
How is the new stick car coming?
I also have a technical question. Is there a formula you use to determine what transmission first gear ratio and ring and pinion ratio to use to maximize launch but minimize wheel spin?
Thanks.
Frank

ajcjr,
That is a picture of car I helped build back in the eighties with my good friend and partner at that time Jimmy Lovallo. It is an original Max Wedge car, campaigned by Jim in D3 out of St. Louis and was just redone this year and is for sale, see www.racingjunk.com for details.
At the time I also had an exact twin to that car that I ran A/SA in D1 against guys like Stein, Lebrun, Leopold and others. We did pretty well and most of all had a blast. I sold that car to John Shaul when I got very involved in my kids sports endeavors. I've regretted it ever since, should have just parked it because I've got the itch again.
Thanks and good luck with your car. Be prepared to spend alot of money!
Frank

I am building it myself so that's why I want to know the rules and take them to the limit. Going to be a father son project ( my dad raced SS/A with a factory Hemi Dart years ago with a car called Old Trapper) .
The biggest dilemma is who makes the best heads ?
Probably shake the car down with a 615 B1 engine to get the bugs out then switch to the Hemi.
Maybe have the car done late 2008 depends how the Outlaw 10.5 car does.

FRank i saw that car on Racingjunk, looks very nice. Right now i am going to run the car in I/SA with a 383. May be put a wedge in it in a couple of years. A friend of mine runs a b/sa, one of the faster wedges in the country. I ran stock for 4 years before with a g/fia mustange i built myself, so i know the game LOL!! Hope to see you out there soon.

Go GReen sounds cool, i hope to race with my 3yr old one day. You should talk to CW about motors. What does your outlaw car look like?

ajcjr,
I like the 383, but have you thought about the 426 steet wedge? I've always liked that combination for G/SA, 11 lbs.@ 300 hp (factor).
3470 with the driver. Pretty good heads, cam and carburetor.
