These guys?
http://www.hiperformer.com/engines/dodge-charger-rebuilt_engines-mop_440lb.html

How can they do it so cheap? And since I might need a to pull my 440 for a spun bearing tell me why I shouldn't get one? They do have short block and high-po versions.

That is a good price. Apparently they do alot of volume to keep the prices down. Here's a thought if you want to go bigger. https://secure.pawengineparts.com/500Mop.html

$3,495 w/10% discount 'till the 31st. That's for 500 cubes. Not a bad price.

If you want a smoking hot deal, PAW has their 440 short blocks for something like 2300 right now I think. Conidering that's a machined block, crank, redone rods and new pistons, I don't think you can beat that. Order it and they deliver it to you, you don't have to do all the leg work.

That's the PAW 440 I mentioned. It looks to be a really good deal. I've never death with them myself either, but PAW has been around since basically the beginning of time so they must be doing something right.

Yes & I've never heard a complaint against them & if I wanted something already assembled & lived near the left coast that's the company that I would choose to deal with

I'm going to let you in on a little secret.
You can get those engines at those prices through your local AutoZone and NOT have to pay for shipping if you do not mind picking up the new engine and returning the core to your local store.

You shouldn't get one until you pull your motor and dig in to it and see just how much damage you got and do a little failure analysis. Might be a bunch cheaper to fix what you have. Also a good time to tailer it to your exact needs / wants.

I think he's right. They do sell re-manned units. I'll look it up today.

yup, they are just quicky rebuilds. sometimes there good, sometimes (most times) their slugs that are tossed together with little or no attention to machining variations.

When I checked into parts-store re-man engines a few years ago, they left a lot to be desired for us performance folks.

Compression ratios were usually in the low 8s, and the engines were basically built to '78-ish smogger specs. Don't expect to visit your parts store and get a steel-crank, correct cam, correct piston, 440HP for that money.

Parts I seek: driver doorpanel, 65 Sport Fury, prefer black, needs to be 7-8 on 10 scale, might buy set 16" x 6" Dodge truck wheel(s), from early 70s?, takes 9" dogdish - need for a research job so cheaper is better. 69-73 C-body caliper brackets and/or splashields Send a PM.

I would sooner give paw a call, at least that way you can tell them what you want and actually get it.

I never said they were good.
But the important factor is....
Is any $1700 rebuilt any good?
I doubt it.
