I am looking for some pictures that show the factory correct hood blackout on the 71 Dusters. I am needing pictures that show where the black ends under the hood and along the upper firewall area and along the fenders. There are 2 different blackout styles. One is the center of the hood blacked out with the dual hood scoops. The other is the full hood, fender tops and the top edge of the door and extending around the 1/4 glass area are all blacked out. Does anyone have detail pics of those areas?

Is the blackout suppost to stop at the vertical edge of the fender like this?

Or does it cover the entire lip of the fender like this?

Same for the upper cowl/firewall area, which is correct? Were the underside of the hoods black or body color from the factory?

The underside of my original hood is not blacked out but the other looks closer to the first pic as far as cowl and fenders. Hope this helps.

Underside of the hood is body color, the edge of the fenders and cowl in the engine compartment the black paints extends about a 1/4 inch or so.

Were the lines sharp/crisp or where they faded in? I was looking back in a MCG that featured a red 70 Charger and the underhood areas were faded in and not crisp like they were taped off. Was that the most common original method?

faded in = the area was not masked or taped. More or less the paint inside the engine compartment was more like over spray??

there taped, crisp...that isn't too say some factory jobs were better than others, but I'd make the lines clean..

Does anyone have any other resto pics of 70-71 Dusters? I am needing to get some detail pics for the bodyshop. I am looking for pics of the car with out the fenders and grill on. Mainly the blackout area behind the grill and how the the inner fenders are suppost to be done near the suspension mounts.

Here is original paint and you can clearly see the factory did mask. The passenger side looks the same but is very light overspray up to the mask line. The center area doesnt show a distinct mask line but is old, dirty and hard to tell.My fender tag is coded V24

Fender top turn signals?? I am trying to decide on installing the body color fender top turn signals on the Duster. Does anyone have the correct location of the fender top turn signals on a 70-71 Duster? There are two holes on each fender correct?

I am looking for a detail pic of the area where the roof and drip rail channel meet. Did the factory use any sealer in that area?
