I'm wondering if it is even worthwhile to put on ported edelbrocks and a cam with around 214/214 duration and .580 lift on a stock magnum short block that only has 8.9:1 compression. Am I going to lose too much dynamic compression ratio? If I was running forced induction that would probably be just fine.

my grand cherokee, which has a hotter pcm than a stock ram/dakota/van was rated at 245hp/345lb ft, they added 74hp and 79lb ft by just putting on a dual plane M1, 750cfm carb, and 1 3/4" headers...??? sure that dyno is even correct?

Very, VERY, good call my friend.

Don't suppose there are any track times for this amazing engine?

The crate engine, basically your GC or my Durango mill but with a dual plane intake, is rated at 300. They put a 750 carb, MSD distributor, and headers, and got 320. So maybe their dyno is a little generous (20 hp or about 6%) but not as much as you're suggesting. The limiting factors on the Magnum are the PCM, intake, cam, and then heads. They addressed all those shortcomings, so of course it's going to make a significant difference.

another thing to realize, your 245HP is SAE net, with all accessories (fan, alternator, PS pump, a/c compressor), full intake tract, and full exhaust on it. when you dyno an engine at a shop, typically the numbers are SAE gross flywheel HP.

compare say, the 440 4bbl. in '71, rated at 375HP gross, in 72, the same engine (IIRC w/o any real changes) was rated at 280HP net.
