In the process of rebulding a 74 duster was wondering if j c whitney replacement body panels (qts, rocker) etc are of decent quality?

Well if your "shopping" in the JC Whitney catalog for "restoration" items ......it's only a Duster, they should be fine

Ok Mike that's enough
If that's the items the guy wants to buy for the car it will be ok for him.

I don't believe there are more than two manufactures of any older mopar sheetmetal. There might be some very few items there's three of, but I'd be curious to know.

Most of the time there has been just one manufacturer, but now AMD is releasing stuff that competes with Goodmarks stuff that is already on the market. I think most duplication would be where Goodmark made a quarter skin and AMD has got a full quarter.

So whether you buy it from JC Whitney, Sears, Saks Fifth Avenue, or Wallmart you are going to get to most likey at most two possibilities of Manufactures on sheetmetal. You need to find out what original manufacture your retailer uses and make a decision on the customer service and price. Many time large sheetmetel gets damaged in shipping, has some flaws, or was boxed damaged originally. This is where the customer service really kicks in.

For a while JC Whitney was the place to get a great deal on rear leaf springs. They got them from US made JR Spring in Detroit. Same place Mopar Performance uses on some of thier springs.

I believe what Mike was refering to was the
panels in the past that appeared to be pounded
out in sand and shaped with leather pallets.

Who made those panels. Was it Goodmark, AMD, other??? I don't think JC Whitney is exclusive/private label on very many if any parts. I'm almost positive they manufacture nothing, same for Summit and Jegs.

JC Whitney does not sell goodmark or AMD, they are cheap overseas skins. Very poor quality.

What other companies really stamp out their own panels for a 74 Duster? You are saying Tabco, Goodmark, AMD... What are the others to look/look-out for?
