Don't you use the shaker bracing on the bottom of the hood as the guide, less whatever the crimping is going to take up?

I'd hate to get a set of measurements for a shaker hole. You'd need a degree in engineering to use them if they were accurate.

From where would you measure? The left and right front corners to the apex of the opening for the starting point and then what? The arc tangent of what to where towards the back for how far?

That's my point. Isn't the brace you have for the bottom your template? It will only fit in one spot.

Tex,.....I'll list the outside(top) skin deminsions of locating the trim ring based off the Cuda hoods I have, 2 AMD repros, 1 original, and 2 fiberglass, all Cuda,.......the deminsions are from the outside edges of the hood to the outer perimeter of the ring, It would be to much to list the slight variances hood to hood so I'll list the factory original hood's deminsions first,(MEASUREMENT A) measureing from the back edge of the hoods center, along the hood's peak to the back edge of the trim ring, it's 12 1/2" inches,....(MEASUREMENT B)from the front edge, measureing along the center peak to the trim rings outer front edge it's 15 5/8" inches,(MEASUREMENT C) measureing from the hoods side edges to the trim rings outer side edge is 14" inches, it's the same for both sides, the repro hoods are very close in deminsions, I'll list the min/max dems of the repros (A) 12 1/2"- 12 5/8", (B) 15 1/2"- 15 3/4", (C) 14", they were all consistant in this dem.......I would make a paper template of the trimrings bottom exactly following all the contours, and stud location, so that you can transfer that more easily to the hood, if you have the "crimp" style hood kit don't drill the trimring stud holes until you've crimped the lip in the hood, as the location will change if you do it before crimping

I don't know who's "kit" you have, in either case wether it's the "crimping" kit, or the "glued" hidden plate, you have to locate the trimring first on the hood, layout the deminsions I supplied in marker, then position the ring between them, if the rings of good quality/correctness it should locate properly in those measurement guidelines, and based on what kit you have you have to determine how much you cut the hole opening open, after you've sucessfully fitted the trimring to the top skin, the trimring studs will help locate the bottom panel, best to trim away at the under braces bit by bit, until you get the bottom plate sandwiched with the trim ring, allways keep an eye on the top skin when working on the underside cutting and welding, as you don't want to draw the top skin down, or distort it, as some of these "kits" leave a lot to be desired in their fit/finish,....take your time

Hope this helps
Mike
