Will the rear end out of a 62-70 b-body rearend fit into a plymouth scamp?? Ive been told by a few guy that it will work. Ive measured and they are pretty close but my main concern would be the pinion angle... Has anyone ever done this swap??

Thanks

You can put one in, but you should move the spring perches as they are a bit too far apart. It will also cause the need to run wheels with lots of back spacing to clear the wheelwells. Stock wheels are a no-go unless your scamp is actually a Duster or Demon/Dart sport. If you are going to a more modern size wheel (17" & up), back spacing isn't really an issue since most are like that anyway. If all you want is the bolt pattern, you would be better off to get a later "undesireable" 8 1/4" A body axle.

The best one to use is from a 65-67 b body. They're a small bit narrower than the later ones.

I bolted in one from a 66 B in my 69 dart. No mods.

The spring pearch difference is mninimal, but as said, tire clearance does get a littel tight. I had a aset of ralleys offset inward at the time, and that worked.

As said- 65-67 are the best to go with. The diff dimensions in the archives are a little iffy

I think this one is more accurate

That's still wrong for most 8.75" a bodies.

IMHO.just send the housing to Moser and have them cut it to A-body specs and weld the new perches on with 43" centers..shiping x 2 and about $65+ to narrow it

set of the $299 custom alloy axles with greens and large brake off set..

you can run any brakes from an 8 1/4, 8 3/4, 9 1/4,D-60...B,C,D,E,F,M,R body axles

unless you rather do the funky offset on rims

I did this for my 68 Dart and then swaped it into my 85 truck

still less $ in it than buying a 8 3/4 thats does not bolt and play and fit correctly
just a suggestion

dr. diff sells a ready to bolt in A body housing, powdercoated, for something like $250. I assume he is narrowing a wider housing , they are empty you still need to buy a chuck, axles and brakes ...

FWIW, Moser charges $445 for a custom axle package and $125 labor to narrow your housing.

It depends on what wheels you plan on running for the most part, with 15's it probably wouldn't work too well and would be better off having one cut to A body size.

I've used them under duster/dart sports and A body Cudas since the 1/4 bulges more, I'm looking for a decent B body 8.75 to put under my Dart since I'm planning on going with 17" wheels. I have an A body width rear under it right now and the wheels I want to run need a 1.5" spacer to clear the leafs, the front is fine since the track is pushed out with 73+ discs.
