I would like to have a little more towing power in my 2002 Ram 1500..It has a 4.7 now. I would like to swap in a 5.7..Will the 5.7 bolt up to the bellhousing?.Will the motor mounts need to be changed?..What other issues might I have to deal with?.I know it would be easier to buy a new truck however mine is mint and I would rather not go into debt right now.

You need a complete donor truck full of parts. It would be easier to swap in 2008 4.7 but still you would need a donor truck for computers, sensors etc.You would need to make the truck the year of the engine.2008 engine is up to 70 h.p. and 30-40 ft lbs of torque.

How about cam,air intake and exh mods to yours? It would be easier and should be enough to help your towing problem.Check out KRC performance online.

Trans is the same bolt pattern but not the same trans.I believe the distance from the crank to the front of the case are different also.Starters are different too.
