GOOD QUESTION - thought about asking this myself, especially after seeing Vanishing Point AGAIN last week on cable, when he changed the flat in the desert, and he put another Rallye on. Also, on the VP topic, there was a scene where the tape must be reversed when they edited, Kowalski is driving/steering wheel is on the right side of the car - but waiting on an answer on your ? 6bblGT - Joe

All '70-'71 e-bodies with 15" wheels had the BFGoodrich "space-saver" spare.
That would not have worked so well for KOWALSKI & the movie!

Would any car in '70 or '71 have 5 matching "rallye", "road", or body colored wheels, or
is the spare always a "black" steel wheel?

dan my unrestored 70 GT came with road wheels and a black spare. the original owner told me that he was upset to find this out and went back to the dealer and demanded a road wheel to match. the dealer did order and give him one. he carried a spare wheel center in the trunk in case he ever needed to use the spare. when i got the car it still had the nos center in it's original box with a mailing label to the selling dealer. I always figured not only was this cheaper for chrysler, but the wheel center on any road/ralley wheel would interfere with the "through the wheel center" mount system in the trunk.

AFIK the spare is always a black steel wheel, have not seen a special wheel in the trunk on an original car.

They look like 2nd version centers. What's the part number in the 1st pic?
Are you sure those are 14x5-1/2"?

Here's a M1/9 12 -O- 17 "rallye wheel" (14x5-1/2" 12/17/69)

Thanks for helping Dan! Sorry for taking so long to get back to this. I'm getting ready for a road trip, so things have been very busy for me.

The part # on these wheels is 3580058. I'm sure they're 14 inch rallye wheels, but they all have tires mounted on them right now, so I can't see the other #'s that would be inside the rim.

I don't really need these wheels, I've just been using them around the shop, but a guy contacted me that would like to buy them if they are the correct build date for his June of 1970 'Cuda. I don't want to sell him the wrong parts, so I'm trying to check and see if these are really the ones that came on my June of 70 'Cuda, or if they had been swapped at some point in the cars life.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for any input.

Thanks Snoopy!

That's interesting, do disc brake cars use different wheels than drum brake cars? I didn't think they did, but my 70 that I got these with IS a disc brake car.

Looks like these aren't the wheels that guy is looking for. Oh well, guess he'll have to keep looking.

I think the W21 wheel manufacturing moved to CANADA for the '72 model year.
Does anyone have a dis-mounted #3580 058, WAG - M4 is CANADA & hoop/rim style is JK
Motor Wheel Corp. plant #4 "MADE IN ??????" ----- 14x5-1/2" ??
