got everything ordered to start on my wiring/custom dash project and figure i should probably keep a heater in the car for fall and spring driving in IA.

so, would it be possible to run a 4 position switch to control the fan speed for the heater? my valve has never worked, so i've been using a manual valve under the hood.

i really don't want to use the stock panel and i'm trying to get rid of all that factory clutter.

thanks

rather than a multi position sw feeding fire to stock type resistors I think I'd use a variable speed switch. Your wipers slow down with the reduced voltage at idle & I think a variable resistor rheostat type switch would do the same thing & maybe work better for you

something like this? probably need something a bit more heavy-duty, though i imagine?

found this one...25 ohm 25 watt 1 amp - not sure if that's enough either - maybe it is?

I'd find out how many amps the blower motor draws (maybe use your VOM on amps in series on the hot wire) & we know the volts (12). That ought to be enough for an electronics tech to recommend one

or i just found this lil switch - not sure if it's resistor based or not, but it's actually made for automotive heaters.

I used a variable speed wiper motor in a 65 dart & if I cant locate a variable speed switch maybe one of those will work for me.
