Hi Joe, Thanks for posting that link.

I've done some studying on this. Measurements differ from car to car, even from one side to the other on the same car. I think some sort of Jig was used for drilling the holes, but it could have been slid forward or rearward on the car. The best cars to take measurements from are T/As. When the T/A cars were built, the workers paid close attention to getting the mirrors in the right spot because the T/A stripe centered around both the mirror & the door handle at the same time.

Nearest I can tell, the intention when installing mirrors is that the passenger side should measure the same as the drivers side, but on non-T/A cars the workers were less exact, and there are variations.

Yeah the "good" tool resembles a pop rivit gun... Unfortunately mine broke while setting a 5/16-18 rivtnut...

You can install them quite succesfully with a bolt, a couple washers a nut & some light oil....

just wanted to thank all who replyed it was a seccess & I hit the old holes right on the money when drilling on drivers side. passenger side never had them from stock. I had to make my own installation tool but it worked better tan the one I bought. The mirrors look really nice installed.

Thanks again Jeff
