Would I need to purchase different shift rods and tabs also if I purchased that shift mechanism?

The tabs (operating levers) #890-891-967 are the same on all 1968-70 B-bodies. Yes, you will need the 1970 linkage rod set (LRS70B) as the reverse rod is bent to clear the speedometer cable, and the 1-2 & 3-4 rods are slightly longer on the 1970 B-body.
