This might be a good place to ask...

I've got 3 of the 1970 only E body strips with the clips that go into the oval holes in the door. They're old original in varying stages of bent & dryrotted. Is there any use for these? I guess I don't need to save the clips off the back or anything do I? I'm thinking I should just trash them. What do you guys think?

I'm watching this one, as I will eventually need these for my convertible.

Me too...as this is my first time installing these, I'd like the best product for the $$.
I sent an e-mail to First place yesterday, and they replied yesterday! (Labor Day!)
Set for my Coronet hardtop is $95.
I would like as many pros/cons on these,as this is my first time dealing with them.
Again, I hope I'm not hi-jacking, Thanks again to the original poster!!

Wally.

Wally

The felts in question here are the E-body ones not the B-body. The B-body ones are excellent reproductions almost dead-on to your originals. If you compare to your originals you'll be impressed.

If you want to try a set from me to compare, and you're not happy for any reason, I'll refund your total price including shipping. Just don't install them. I'll send you a PM with details in case you want to do that.

Thanks,
Randy

Randy,
I'll be in contact with you soon to take advantage of your offer!! I sure do appreciate it!

Wally.

Randy,
I bought a set of Cat Whiskers from you at RPM, June 04. I haven't used them yet. What is the difference between the RPM whisker and the Restoration Specialties whiskers?
Am I going to have problems with the ones I bought?

Snoopy,

There is no difference in the whiskers. The whiskers from June of '04 are the old design. Many people used them with no issues. If you have a reproduction door panel or recovered one, it will probably be thicker. If it's thicker you "may" have trouble getting it to stay on. If you have a stock panel, there should be no issue.

If you would like a set of the redesigned inners, pm me with your address and I'll send a set to you. You can use whichever you like the best.

Thanks,
Randy

Randy,

You are a stand up guy. I wish I could have found such customer service committment from PUI and the vendor I bought them from. Alas, it is a live and learn world. Good suppliers stand behind their products.

Well, after all of this great information. I bought a set of Top Cat's from Randy and am anxiously awating their delivery!

I also should mention that I happened to come across the paperwork for the PUI felts I'd bought last year and found a customer service phone number. Called them and discovered that the supplier I'd bought from (e-body parts) had sent me a mixed set, PUI outers and someone else's inners. Nevertheless, the problem was withthe outers and PUI offered to replace them. They still only round punch their felts, but he thought their more recent production would fit better than the outers I'd received last year.

I'll post again when I get both sets here and let you know if the PUI's are looking better these days.

I contacted first place about a full set for a 1971 charger and was told they only offer these in a replacement line and not in an OEM profile. Was almost sold on first place guess I will contact dixie and see what they have.

I'm very glad I found this thread. I bought a set of TopCat cat whiskers for my '68 Dodge Swetpline and they were too long. They pooched out, touched the glass, and wanted to slide up with the glass (rubber cat whiskers, not felt coated). I'm glad to see there are options and that those options are even close to me.

Wish i would have seen this before. We are on our 3rd set now. 1st 2 were PUI, 1st ones were too short, 2nd ones were just plain bad all around. when complained to PUI, they offered to exchange them for TopCats. I have them now and they are head and shoulders above the PUI's. The inside ones are great but the outside ones are not like my originals. Haven't put them in yet so not sure yet how they will work.

The one on the left is the original and the one on they right is topCat's
