I have the pair of them I need, but my question is what did they originally come on? 2 guys each had 1 that I bought, and they had no idea.

since that number doesnt show in my books I'll have to guess they are both passenger side truck pieces and likely 74 or newer 440 or 400.

that other thread talks about them being on only 1 side on vans. I'm wondering if there's some truth to that since I found 3-4 guys that all had singles in their iron piles but nobody had a pair. I also saw a guy at the Nats 2 yrs ago that had a 'complete BB truck conversion' setup, mounts, pan, and 1 of these manifolds and a regular truck one. He said he took it all out of a truck that way. I thought he was crazy at the time.

They were used on Vans and Motorhomes, in the later 70's. 440's and 400's.

Here's a photo of a left & right, that i own, that i found a picture of in my computer files.

Got any idea why? What problem were they trying to solve with them, valve cover gasket cooking?

yup...van or van front MH. valve cover gaskets cook in those rigs because it's mostly FULL throttle to get up the steep grades in those tanks and they are inclosed in a doghouse...makes LOTS of heat!

I wonder why only the one side? Interesting that yours still have heat shields, mine don't have that. Do you know what was bolted to them? They have a boss that's threaded.

The heat shields use the mounting studs in the cylinder heads to keep them in place.

Pair of thiose would look cool on an old school Rat Rod engine, maybe even grind off the odd casting bumps and barbs and have them chromed, look like shorty headers and would make allot of guys as to what they were

The threaded boss gets the dipstick tube bolted to it. Real long dipstick tube to run out to the van hood.

Mike;
If your asking me, hemi71x, about those exhaust manifolds also, i have a pair in one of my storage lockers. Maybe even the ones in my previous posting.
Ya, i could sell a pair.
Since your on So. Cal. somewhere, the FEDEX'ing shouldnt be that bad. Those things probably, easily weigh in at 60 + pounds for the pair.
Send me a PM.
Jim V.
