alright so my buddy with his 318 is putting his motor back in the hole, and myself i should be ready to drop my stroker in HOPEFULLY next week. what we want to know is what should we use for break in oil? also curious to know how u guys break in ur engines. some ppl say break it in easy and not go over 3500 rpm. others say "break it in the way ur gonna drive it" i was thinkin of trying to use a good range of my rpm like maybe up to 5000 or so but never holding it.... what do u guys think?

thanks in advance

Im goin fast Mom!

Need good oil(no synthetic for breakin) w enough zinc. Many options for that. Brad Penn oil is good, rotella diesel is also(even the new formulation) w Hughes moly additive. I'd bring the eng immediately to ~2500 for 20-30 minutes & goose the throttle many times to load it but not let it fall below 2500 and read "breakin secrets" at www.mototuneusa.com

I use Joe Gibbs break in oil with ZDDP additive. Fire it up set idle at 2500 for 20 to 30 minuites to break in the cam. After that let it rip.

With a flat tappet cam use a good break in oil,Gibbs,Royal Purple and others are availible. Roller cam, either hyd or solid roller do not need a break in oil, just a quality mineral oil. Load the rings as early as possible and a good idea is to swap the oil filter after an hour or so and cut the removed filter apart to check for problems.

Valvoline 10-40. 500 easy, then some flogging. Royal Purple Syn after 2500 miles. 20 thousand later, no issues. 440.

Easiest way and the cheapest is some valvoline VR1 with EOS supplement.. Changed mine at 100 miles used some EOS again. Now at 900 miles I am going to change it with straight 20-50 VR1 valvoline.. Brad penn, royal purple, Joe gibbs is all good stuff, just harder to get and about twice the money... My 2 cents....
