My Challenger was a 2bbl 318 car and I guess had a small rad support opening. At some point, sombody cut it to fit a 26" radiator in there and did a poor job so I was thinking of ditching the stock type 26" radiator for a cheap aluminum unit.

Anybody install a universal radator in a mopar?? I guess I need a Chevy style with the drivers side upper and pass lower hose locations and would have to mount it using the top and bottom brackets so the cut rad support wont matter.

I got this 26" on e-bay shipped for under $200. It has the brackets on it as well as trans line hook-ups. It bolted right to the core support and the shroud fit right on.

The first question you need to ask yourself ( prior to fit issues ) - is it going to be enough radiator to cool my motor.

Sure, but I was thinking a 26" 2 core alum radiator should be comperable to a 3 core 26" brass & copper.

Under $200 shipped is not bad but since the previous owner(s) cut my rad support I don't know how well it will bolt up.

Never mind. I found the ones on ebay. Made by Champion?

Even if the rad support was cut too big it still would be easier to get a regular mount radiator to fit as opposed to a universal cross flow.

Any cooling issues with yours?

I'm not an expert on radiator sizing, but if your 360 is making over 400HP that radiaror will be very marginal - IMO.

my 440-6 makes 400+ haven't seen an issue yet. Temp gauge stays around 170, might float to 200 right after I shut it off, but drops quick as asoon as you re-fire it.

From youyr pic I don't think we are talking about the same radiators. Thought the universal Summit rad was a cross flow. Yours looks like a down flow with a bigger tank than the cross flow?

I’ m using the same Champion radiator in my 69 Super Bee with no cooling issues. My engine is 511 CU, 550 hp . It runs 190 degrees on a 95 degree day with a 180 degree thermostat. It should be plenty for your application.

idk about the summit rads, but i have a chevy-style griffin 19X26 2 row aluminum rad, which cools my 440 just fine. only problem is having to make a custom lower hose (idk how it would be on a small block.

The car has never been on the strip. The engine has only been in the car since June. Cam is real mild for the street. The cam card is attached.

yes mine is down or "normal" flow. I was just saying mine is cheap and it works if he's looking for something on the cheap side.

I found the downflows and they are only a little bit more than the universal for a direct fit. I still might have to fool with the mounting since my rad support was butchered but I'm sure the downflow would be a much easier install.

how bad was it cut? the one I have had the mounting tabs. I guess you could re-drill them to make a custom fit. It doesn't take much to mount a radiator.

Congratulations! Is that 800HP each or altogether?
