Did he say they had sliding metal sunroof or soft canvas sunroofs?
Please invite him to post here about his cars. If he has something quantifiable to educate others with, it will be very a postive thing that everyone can learn from.

Slow down now, let's walk before we run. I know it's tough because a lot of people were giving you flack. Please post a link to the Florida guys comments. I can't find them. I think you should take some good detail pictures of the sunroof without the headliner carboard in it. And take picture of the sunroof frame from up top with the sunroof open. Also take the passenger kickpanel out and take pictures of what in there. Without that effort you are doing yourself a disfavor no matter what people are saying. Quote:
What happened to all the guys who were ripping into me, i would like to hear from them now that a 71 demon did come from the factory? I took alot of abuse of this, and i took it personally because i am not the kind of person some of you made me look? Read the post from the collector in Flordia, maybe someone here knows who he is.

I never saw what happened to your thread after suggesting how to save some time looking under the seats.... It seems, since you haven't posted that you spent any time looking, your time would be better spent INSIDE YOUR CAR rather than on the internet.... Like I said yesterday, you need to spend a few hours looking, rather than trying to justify to anyone else what you THINK you have.

The problem is that you are attempting to go into battle but you are leaving the fort without any weapons. Your original post was a discussion about YOUR Demon, not someone elses. You were asked (nicely at first) for some basic information which would help the board members determine if YOUR Demon had originally come (from the factory) with a STEEL sliding sunroof. You never produced any of the "proof" items people wanted to see (Broadcast Sheet, Fender Tag, etc.). Any further "Guessing" won't get you any closer to proving it's a real factory sunroof car or not, it's all pure guesswork and you'll never come to any confirmation that way. That being said, the guy you mentioned may indeed have a factory sliding steel sunroof car, heck maybe even yours was built that way, but without absalute proof of it I'm not buying it, to date I've never seen a factory original and niether has anyone I know in the Mopar hobby. This is not to say it never happened, but type of car that would be noticed, so if one does exist I'm pretty sure it would have come to the surface by now. To that end I believe (as I posted before on the other thread) that if you are as "honest" as you keep saying, you'd re-word your ebay ad which it now appears you have done (good for you). No hate towards you or your car, just my honest opinion.

If I am the Florida Collector you are referring to, I stand by my comments. We would all like to see prrof of the cars heritage. Mr. Norm as you may or may not know made some pretty radical stuff-He made it not Ma Mopar. Many on the other thread said they didnot believe, but I believe any who are familiar with Mopars never say never. The comments by me and others were directed more for your intent (as we percieved it) than the car's origin. I never heard your responce the rumor of you trying to buy Demon fender tags on E-Bay, I case you didnot know the fender tag contains the VIN so ones from another car would be no good. I will be watching this thread so if you have any comments for me directly, don't hesitate, all though I my be out of my trailer house feeding my dog!
So do you own two Demons with some sort of steel sliding sunroof? Are your particular cars coded on the tag or buildsheet for them?

I never wanted this to turn into a battle, and i never wanted it to be a post for a future for sale ad.I am a new board member and did not really know much about this carWow, what i learned in a week, i spent 2.5 hours tonight with the current high bidder who lives 50+ miles away.We took the demon over a friend of mine who has a lift to pull the seats out and carpets and so on.The guy's name is louis, louis is a chrysler mechanic for 23 years as he told me before coming out.We found no build sheet at all, and he looked every place he could think of.Louis also noticed the roof is a factory roof, BUT WAS ADDED ON A LONG TIME AGO.He said it was a clean job, and still wanted to buy the car tonight.I did not sell it due to 2 people coming from far away on Sunday, and i called them both and told them waht louis found and they were ok with it.I can only say that again i learned also, and sorry if i pissed a few guys off here i never intended to.I have updated the ad with what louis found and this way i would cover everything that he found. The good thing is the collector in Flordia as you can also read what he wrote in the ad stated he has 2 demons from 71 with build sheets, fender tags with the same roof from the factory. So my demon did not come from the factory with a roof, his did as he stated SO IT LOOKS LIKE THEY MADE A DEMON WITH THIS OPTION? Oh, and on the fender tag, i did try to buy the one in the ad you seen also.I collect classic car tags and motor cycle tags and having a demon i wanted to have it.

LOL
I doubt ANYONE was p-o'd at you, just a little confused on your initial insistance the car came facory with the sunroof.
So, it seems, everyone HERE was correct in assuming the odds of your sunroof being factory. Thanks for giving us the news, and for adjusting the add.
I am sure I speak for most here, you are welcome here anytime. Every mopar owner gains knowledge in these deals....

Ok ive been doing tons of research on 71-72 Demons and Dusters with factory sunroofs. 1971-72 Demons, Dusters never came from the factory with a metal style sunroof never !!!. During 1971 and 72 a vinyl folding style sunroof with a code of V3 could be ordered in either Black V3X and V3W for White. It is a ultra rare option and very few cars were ever built . They were installed a ASC American sunroof Corp in Detroit. I recently looked at a geniune 72 Demon with the V3 option and its clearly marked on the bottom of the 3 original buildsheets American sunroof corporation with the V3X code in the proper line, all V3 cars had this typed at the bottom of the buildsheet. I have a complete V3 folding sunroof section im going to install on my 72 340 4-spd Demon simply becuase finding a genuine 72 340 Demon with the V3 roof is almost impossible . Metal sunroofs came in 73 thru 76 on Dusters, Dart Sports and Swingers. I hope this helps , hardcharger65.
I always thught the sunroof option didnt come out until the 73 dart sport option. My cousin has 2 73 dart sports in northeast nebraska, i have scrapped out 1 73 slant 6 car with the sunroof option. I wasnt aware of this option in anything prior, pluss the demon was quote unquote a higher end car, and these cars, i didnt think came out with the cardbord head liner until the 73 models. I have seen some 71 dusters with the cardboard headliner, but they were either very late 71s, or 72 model headliners put in the demon because the factory demons had a bow type headliner, and they arent very easily adapted to the sunroof option due to the bows in the cloth headliner. I have seen non sunroof cars having the sunroof added by any skilled body man, but they all had a cardboard headliner put in place of the cloth bow type headlinner. My guess is that without the proof of your fender tags, or the build sheet, Im guessing that you have a legit Mr Norms car, but they installed it in 72 on a 71 model car as so many people have done in the last 30+ years. A picture of your build sheet, and fender tag would definatly help the controversy. I have also seen some late 72, some 73 dart sports models labeled as a demon, they had the 73 front end, and the 73 dart sport tail lights, so mopar definatly did some funky things, but who knows. Steve Peterson from Yanton South Dakota had scrapped out a wrecked dart sport labeled as a Demon .
