I can't tell by looking at it, but you can when you put the timing light on it.

My Romac has two lines lasered on the front, one on the hub the other on the ring. If they're not lined up it's slipped.

I have an ATI on my hemi and a Fluidamper on my wedge. No problems with either one. I had a BHJ once, it slipped not long after I put it on. CHIP

would that make the BHJ a
Big
Hunka
Junk

ATI makes a great product but they are a little pricey. there are other dampers out there that will do the job and hold up just fine for the average street/strip/bracket racer.

I use Pioneer SFI (look in Summit catalog) when I need an inexpensive SFI damper with Chrysler face. I've used them on 700+ HP motors with no issues.

I have ATI on the big $ stuff, they are great dampers but are overpiced IMO for all they really are. But with their bolt together design, they are virtually impossible to have "slip
like the cheaper pressed together dampers.

Another advantage of the ATI is that you can ship it back to them for rebuild and recert for $90. I had my 1993 unit rebuilt in 2006.

Both the ATI Super damper and the TCI Rattler seem good.

Will they work with the stock timing cover?

I also need to use the stock pulley for my alternator.

Any problems with this?

I'm getting mixed answers from their tech lines.

Jeff

p.s. the Romac that came off said SFI 18.1
It is a two piece unit that has spun.

I know a fluid damper works with the stock timing cover. I would be 99.9999999% sure the others do too!

The ATI and the Fluidamper that I have are both on motors with stock timing covers. CHIP

ROMAC has an indexing line from the inner to outer shell, have you checked it? Also your front pulley hasnt been pulled up hard on the outer rting at all has it??

I have been using ROMAC exsclusivly for over 15 yrs an am yet to have see any problems, IMO you should be looking at wot cause its failure.
FWIW I have used them on almost every racing application, DIRT CARS, DRAGS, CIRCUIT, ROAD & BOATS

ALSO ROMAC is SFI & its all but impossible for the outer ring to come off.
