What plug wires work best on a small block with Hedman hedders? The blue Mopar performance wires hit the header on cylinders 5 and 7. Suggestions? Make my own wires with a 90 degree boot I guess?

geuss it depends on the headman headers

mine are so that all the tubes go straight down and are not tight on the plug wires

the other headers I had had a tube run on top and to the back then down on the pass side

I used some wire clips to pull and hold them away from the tube as best as I could

yes if a 90* end would work, not that hard to do

got a pic of the wires and headers??

I would use plug wires with 45* spoark plug boots and some metal plug wire looms to keep the wires off the headers.

I was able to bend the end on #5 enough (like 15 degrees or so) that it doesn't touch the header and never burnt through. #7, I replaced the end with a 90 degree boot and went around to the underside of the header.

On mine I bought a set of 90* boots and put them on cylinders 5 & 7, the rest are straight boots. I run them under the tube. There's about an inch of clearence there and have been fine for the last 5 years.

IIRC the truck headers don't shoot the #3 tube over 5 & 7 like the car ones do....440newports #7 is routed like mine, #5 I still have a straight boot and had enough clearance to come in from the top side by bending the end about 15 degrees.

my new summit headers, the #3 tube is a little further out than my old headmans, and I think I could route #7 from the top side if I still had the original straight boot (can't find it)

On my 360 with Hooker headers all the plug wires have 90 degree boots and plenty of clearance on 5 & 7 tubes.

gotta love tti's. don't have those silly problems.

They're so good you don't need plug wires at all!

I can think of cheaper ways than TTI's to eliminate plug wire problems!

Yeah, and when I bought the Hedmans, I also had to buy a bigger wallet so I'd have a place to keep the $350 I saved.

Has anyone tried the Jacobs Electronics wires with ceramic boots? (Their website now links to Accel so I guess they were acquired). Anyway they are nearly $150(!) at Summit and come in straight or 90 degree boots. Used to have a lifetime warranty, not sure if they do any more. At that price they ought to!

The ceramics are nice, but its better to find boots and wires that fit properly. Heat is a killer on ignition systems as a whole. We've have nearly a dozen customers that had headers that were actually bent or assembled on the jig wrong.

Can you make me up a set for the Hedmans, and at what price?

MSD makes a universal wire set. Its a make it your own and the plug ends can bend which ever way you want. If you are worried they will break they offer replaced ends too! By far the last set of wires you may have to buy. They work great on my big block Demon. Plugs on that thing are a PAIN!
