Help, what is the difference in the 3. ohm vs 1.5 ohm coil called the flame thrower, paddock lists both but not sure of the difference. I'm using factory points dist on my 70 hp engine and wondering if either are better than stock for more spark?

ohm your current ballast & post what it is. yes a less ohm ballast will give a hotter spark & shorten the life of the points(& less so the coil). It's worth experimenting with and you might add a 2nd condenser(in parallel)to the dist to absorb some of the extra arcing.

Go with the 1.5 ohm coil and bypass your ballast resistor.
