Is there a direct formula/percentage for figuring out how much Mallory Metal will be needed in balancing? In other words say I have a 1000 gram piston, pin, locks, rings assembly that has been accurately balanced to the total rotating assembly...Now I just added 200 grams to the pistons. Is there a formula that can tell me how much Mallory Metal will be needed....no algebra, trig or calculus please.
Thanks
Curt

Oh yeah...THAT'S gonna leave a mark!

Curt I cannot ans your Q directly but if I could I would guarantee you that my ans would not include any algebra calculus or trig

Algebra is required.

So would the end result be more or less Mallory metal required than piston weight discrepancy? or roughly times two, times 4 ???
Thanks
Curt

The bobweight used to balance may be in the range of 2200 grams and you are changing that by 200 grams by adding to the reciprocating weight a 200 gram heavier piston(2 pistons on each throw but you use 1/2 of the recip weight). No math(I promised).
