Every problem you knock down, even those not car related, is just one more obstacle out of your way.

Thanks for the support Dave!

So onto problem one. The passenger spindle.

The rotor would not go on the spindle, turns out the diameter is .25" to big which means i needed to find another spindle. So i run out and pull on off of another front suspension, bring it home, same problem. So that means i had no option but to pull one of a suspension that was in a car that burnt to the ground. That was quite the adventure...

Here we finally got the rotor and caliper off with lots of heat, notice the inner part of the bearing is still on the rotor Not moving at all...

whats left of the bearing in the rotor...

So the inner part of the bearing need to be cut off as it was not moving. So our friend very carefully torched it out...

Here is the aftermath, then we also broke all three dust cover bolts, which in turn broke a drill bit and a tap. This was a very interesting project

All done, spindle is cleaned and primed, just needing paint...

Then steering column troubles (knew it was coming, still trying to find an alternative to spending $150 for the flaming river kit...

On the upside, i polished the headlight rings (three backs not done, just to compare)

That doesn't look like you were having much fun at all.

As far as the steering goes, the distance in the pic is more than the difference between power and manual steering, so what gives? I wonder if your column "slipped". I had the unit out of my 69 runner a few years ago, and when I went to re-install, the stupid thing had shrunk 3". Needless to say, I figured out that the column had somehow been collapsed a bit being moved around the shop. Brought it out where it needed to be, and problem solved.

Now, assuming that is a PS column, you'd still likely be a bit short. I had HEARD that MS vans had the same adapter factory as FR sells aftermarket. Might be worth a lookand a LOT cheaper.

Steve,
I had thought my column was a power column in my manual car and was shopping for a new one. Jules assured me that it was indeed a manual column. I was able to pulled the column shaft up while it was out of the car. Worth a shot.

That is a power steering shaft and it CANNOT and should NOT be pulled out to reach the manual steering box.
The opposite is okay. Manual compressed to power is fine but not the opposite.
Not enough shaft will be left inside the tube.
Jules

Someone sells an adapter to take up the distance from PWR to Manual steering. I think Firm Feel makes them. We use one on a friends E-Body to conver to manual steering on his race car. I hope to see that car at Carlisle and keep up the great work.

What kind of car was it? Also, what did you use to polish the headlight rings?

Thanks for the tips guys, after talking with Jules i have it all figured out, ill post what i did later. The spindle was off of a 70 Challenger. I used some polishing compound that i found at lowes, the is levels 1-6 6 being high gloss, and it looks sweet when you get use it

Hey Steve,
Any chance you have a picture of the car? I'd be really interested in seeing it.

Alright guys i know its been awhile since i updated but a lot has been going on to prevent me from posting.

The car was at carlisle if anyone was there you would have easily know it was this car but the incompleteness and it being the only motorless car on the showfield. Anyways did see a few of you and it was good to talk to you guys.

In addition to that i lost my camera for about a month so the pictures for about a month are very minimal and only end results...

I painted the gas tank black different i know but i saw a car with a body color tank and from the rear end it looked good so i went ahead and did that...

Refinished the gauge cluster and put a stock radio in for now until i finish up my radio delete panel. Also installed the steering column. I ended up taking an e-body manual steering shaft that i had here and used that instead of buying a power to manual coupler...

I also picked up a tuff wheel adapter at a local junkyard for $15 as i plan to put a rim blow on the car

Now for the most exciting thing. I have a friend who helped me out big time with some parts. We did a very large trade deal of parts for these cars. I ended up getting some nice parts and a new option for the car...

So i got a near complete ram charger hood assembly and just need to do some metal work to the hood and i will have a ram charger hood for the car.

In addition to that i picked up some of the cleanest sidemarkers anyones ever seen. Check the how nice the rears are (the back of them is still super glossy and the lenses are perfect[pics do no justice])

Also got a bunch of original spoiler hardware and the mounting brackets for the grilles...

And finally picked up some nice original front upper door panels. At the bottom of the panel in a bag is some of the rubber insulation that goes on wiper motors. I have to thank Jules big time for donating this stuff!

I'll try to get some pics of the car up here soon
