I have a 69 GTX that is A4. It has a black interior but supposedly it came with a silver interior. I have read others talk about M6S as the code. Mine says P6S. Would you happen to know what that would be?
Awesome car you have there... Put it back to a Pewter (Silver) interior... then sell it to me!
Is this your GTX by chance?...

Thank you... I believe it will go back to the original color combo... Are you referring to the build sheet?
Yes... A second broadcast sheet found in my Road Runner was for a GTX with the same A4/P6S combo with a VIN ending in ...234. I thought it might be from your car...

Can you say Rare. I can say rare.
69 Hemi GTX ragtops total production was 11 US sales and 5 in Canada.
Of the 5 that came to Canada two were A4 Platinum.
This was one of the Canadian cars...maybe that one?

Why was it considered junk in the first place?
I am not sure Robin... possibly because the Silver paint was toast. Also, there was a series of rapid title transfers, and possibly some litigation... The four title assignments were filled out on the back of the title... never saw that before or since. I will try to post some of the documents that I got from the Texas DMV in the next few days.
In the early 80s I found out that the Texas DMV would provide an "Ownership History" of a registered car for a $5 fee. In the Hemi RR's case, I defintely got my money's worth... copies of a couple dozen documents.
The oldest document was a title showing a lien date of 5/1/69, only about 6 1/2 months after the scheduled build date of 10/15/68. I assume "Dan" was the orignal owner who purchased the RR when new from Mid-Cities C-P, but I am not certain.
Here is the title "Leland" had showing the former owner "Dan":
Update! After MANY years of trying to locate the original owner of the A4 Hemi RR, I just talked to him on the phone!
Dan (original owner) was quite animated in relating his recollections and street "war" stories. I will try to document them in the next few months, but here are a few items that I was told:
> Dan was only 17 years old when he bought the Hemi RR new, literally "off of the showroom floor".
> The original Hemi was blown up with only 26 miles remaining on the warranty coverage. The dealer installed a replacement Hemi engine under warranty.
> The Hemi RR was extensively street raced against all comers... beating them all, except a 1966 Hemi Satellite that tied him. While attempting a rematch, the two Hemis were pursued by four Denton Co. squad cars... the Hemi Satellite was caught, but not the Hemi RR. With the A4 Hemi RR safely tucked away in his father's garage, Dan and his buddies used his dad's (Southlake Fire Chief) scanner to listen to them hunt for a "gray Hemi Beep-Beep".
> Audio recordings were made during many of the races, and sent to a fiend in Vietnam.
> Dan believes that he still has some pictures of the Hemi RR... will send scans when found!
> His payments were about $170 per month on the Hemi RR...
More updates as information is received...

Good job Allen finding out the histories of your cars after so many years. That is an accomplishment to say the least after all these years. If you get bored I got a Hemi Charger from a "raid" to Texas so many years ago that you could check its history out if you want. Maybe you could turn this into a part time job or new reality TV show. Oh ya I'm on over here also now. 1st post.

Very nice GTX you have! I also own a 69 GTX in A4. It has a black interior now but originally it had an A4 interior. I'm thinking of restoring it back to original, does anyone have any idea how many GTX's came with this color combo? Or does anyone know who I could ask for this info?
I got a twin to that car in my shop now, didn't get started on it yet, but its an auto with under 15k original miles, silver on silver with I believe a black top.

Thank Dave!... Welcome to Moparts! I have been developing new techniques to track down previous owners, but all my successes were on cars that I had obtained ownership histories from the Texas DMV in the early/mid 1980s. Such information is much more difficult to obtain now.

Allen do you remember the particulars on Grady Gunns silver hemi rr? I remember it was loaded up gtx like but was a rr. I remember it had the rocker moldings.
Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

I think it'd be cool to find the Hemi RR and get the 2 back together like they were on the showroom floor when Stan saw them.
