I am putting together a stroked eddy head 340 for my 69 notchback. I am using the early cast iron water pump. The round back alternator is interfering with the flat front surface of the head. I've read previous posts about this problem and solutions such as the Denso alternator, spacers, etc. Before I go one of those routes, it appears as though the face of the aluminum head could be clearanced to allow the alternator to rotate for belt installation and tensioning. Anyone ever tried or considered this? Are there any water jackets behind the forward face of the head? It looks like I'd have to go a maximum of .180" deep to get clearance.
