Hey y'all, Mark and I made it home in the Daytona and the Falcon at around 7:00 tonight. We left here nine days ago and it has been an unbelievable journey. I have to thank everyone for riding along with us on this once in a lifetime deal. The stories and sights from the road could easily fill a book. Between DG and Mark and myself, we took well over 1,000 pics. There are so many people I want to thank but I've been up since 7:00 yesterday evening (30 hours) and I am totally beat. I'll post in detail a little more in the next couple days but right now, I need some sleep!

One thing I do want to mention right now that was pretty cool was that yesterday morning (Tuesday), we got into the Kansas City area after driving all night through Kansas and it was hot and muggy and we were all tired. We decided to sleep during the day and drive all night again. We stayed in Blue Springs, Missouri at a Motel 6. What's the big deal? Well, Blue Springs, Missouri is right next to Independence, Missouri. What's the big deal? The Aussie Daytona was sold new through Independence Dodge in Independence, Missouri way back in 1969! Independence Dodge is long gone but it's really cool that not only is the Daytona now home just 20 minutes away from where it was built after being nearly 14,000 miles away for the past 30 years, it also got to spend some time roaming the streets of the area where it was sold new. I'm virtually 100% certain that we drove it down streets that it prowled 34 years ago!

Before I crash for the night, I especially want to thank DG and Mark for going with me on this trip. We all had the time of our lives and without the two of them, it would never have been the same. The three of us formed a bond that can never be broken. I think all three of us have perma-smiles on our faces.

Jeeeeze, thats a nice looking Daytona.
I don't get on the puter much in the summer months, so I just observed this post for the first time.
Congrats on the awesome winger John. You gotta be a proud man.
Take good care of that fine beast.

john, mark and dart girl, glad you all made it home safe and sound. i know you all had the time of your lives.
unbeleivable that only three of you drove 2 cars all those miles. what was it? 2500?
now for the big question! were all wondering how many miles per gallon of oil the falcon got!

seriously though, you know everybody in michigan wants to see this SUPER BIRD from WAY down under now that its WAY up over! you could probably sell tickets for admission! are you gonna have it at the gratiot cruise?

dart girl, i hope you are taking care of the old man!
he must be one hellava guy!
and uh dart girl .... you know what doing 132 mph means?
it means no more posts from you about the danger's of street racing! (hope you dont take that to seriously!)

What an awesome ride, John. It almost felt like we were right there with y'all! Ah, the wonders of the internet.

That was particularly cool how you had the Daytona right by where it was originally sold, too! What a coincidence. I can't wait to hear some more details of this super cool trip when you can.

Great to hear you made it home all in one piece!
(and hope you got stock in an oil company for the Falcon...that sure is a confusing one to me )

So now the question is how long till we see a pic with the Daytona and white Bird together ?!

Very cool! I just had to add my two cents now that you are home. Thanks for having us along on the ride, it will be tough to top this one! Do I see a Five Star Video in the making? If not, sell the movie rights so we can see it on the big screen!

Well done, all three of you. When's the movie version? You've got the car chase, you just need a plot.

Naaaa... this is only the "Cliff Notes" version! The book, along with the 800 pics, will be out for X-mas!

I'll buy the book, as long as all of the pics that they took are in it!!!
The cliff notes here are really intriguing!

So that must be why details, pix of the trip, became nonexsistent after the magazine shoot. Yeah I'm slow.

I hope the proceeds go to a charitable organization. Also great it was a safe trip. Even if we don't know the official statistics of other driver's rubber-necking DG and the cars causing accidents!

Hey y'all, the stories we have from the trip definitely could fill a book and if we had a plot, it could definitely have been a movie. The cars, the scenery and the people were just too awesome! I still need to go through all of our pics and get some posted on here but I had to spend the entire day getting caught up on work. The reason we didn't post a whole lot after the magazine shoot was because after Colorado, the scenery gets a bit boring and we started doing a lot of our driving at night to keep the Daytona cool. If anyone here in the Detroit area is going to the Gratiot Cruise this Saturday, we should have the Daytona there.
