The old bias ply tires were very tall by today's radial standards. It is often difficult to find a newer radial tire that has as tall a sidwall as the old tires had. Here is how your 235/80 compares to the 235/75; the 235 is the tire width in mm. The 75 or 80 is the sidewall heigth which is a percentage of the tire width. So, the 80 means that the sidewall is 80% of 235 or 188mm tall. The 75 is 75% of 235 or 176mm. The 235/75 tire will have about 12mm shorter sidewall than the 235/80 tire. Now, I have found that although based on actual measurements like 235mm and 80%, some tires vary in size from one brand to another just as much as the old F78s and G60s did. Good luck, I hope this helps.
