We got a little more done today. Welded up the hinge backings and put some more on the roof!

Okay guys we are getting closer to completion of metal work every day, instead of replacing the rear pan with one we dont have we decided to weld shut all the holes and patch the one needed area...

Then we took out the front suspension. We used the old man's just suspension torsion bar remover which worked out well after we spent 45 minutes trying to figure out why it would not budge. Turns out a stupid forgetful step of releasing the tension from the Lower control arms...

They got any older sisters???

I've been watching your thread for awhile, and I'm really impressed with your work. I got burnt out on my car a few times along the way, and it was nowhere near the task yours is. I'm impressed with how you've stuck with the project and you've really come a long way with it--great job!

1968 Charger project. I don't have a fender tag or a buildsheet, so it's getting a 440. Help me decide on a color--most everything looks great! (NOT white. My Challenger is white. Need some variety :D)

So we got some more work done today, most of the remainder of the work on the car is just stripping, grinding, and welding those misc holes we missed. Today we took the car outside to blast only to have trouble with it so we just used some paint stripper...

This stuff works great for undercoating, it just boils it right off

This is how we move the car...no body wheels for us

Also welded the wire covers back onto the floor...

Got a little bit more done today. I blasted all the tiny cracks and creases with the blaster and came out looking a little darker than usual Then i also pulled the fenders out of storage and used some stripper on them. All i can say is im glad we finally can catch a break, these things are mint, there is no way they are original to the car

Then hung them on the car to give a little future vision

I just want to say that this is one of the best threads I've ever read. It's better than watching TV! All I can say is that a lot of people can gain inspiration from you guys for tackling their own projects. I look at my Ramcharger and think to myself "I'll never be able to fix that rust"; then I look at what you've done and realize that, if I don't do it myself, it's nobody's fault but mine. I think you're proving a lot of people wrong who have a negative opinion of the "younger generation". You guys rock!

Now, the REAL question, will I be able to see the car at Carlisle and shake your hands?

ixelerate I agree a very annoying and stupid bracket but ties that back end together more than anything else. Taking it apart i realized how important they are.

CBarge Thanks! We actually were joking about getting sending out a letter to Disovery, TLC, or Speed Channel about getting them over here to tape a show of how the average guy works on a car for the next project we do. No fancy lifts and every tool under the sun, just the basics and rolling on your back The project has also inspired us as we can see our own skills growing from the start to the end and how much we have learned about doing the cars in the future. And yes you will see it there no matter its condition. Ed, the coordinator for carlisle, wants it they no matter what its like. I know there is not much time left but i can see it getting done. Many may think no way but if we keep putting in our 10 hour work days like we have i think we can get her pretty darn close! Hope to see you there!
