I'm building a 71' HemiCuda' clone. I have put in a 1 1/8" front sway, 1" torsion bars, polygraphite bushings, tied the frames, 4 wheel Baer brakes, and 3/4" rear sway, T/A steering box. I'm wondering whether the new Hotchis tubular upper A-arms, would be worth adding to the set up I have? Thanks-

With those tubular A-arms you get more that just an A-arm. That A-arm package also includes parts to change the upper control arm geometry to reduce bump steer on those cars. What was explained and showed at the Hotchkis Open house seminar was that through their computer modeling and actual on car measurements, they found the E/B-bodies had lots of bump steer. By changing the upper control arm rear mount location they reduced a bunch of bumpsteer.

Explained better here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzxPWrdPlt0

At the level and thoroughness of the build you listed above, something like this would make sense.

Great info! I was wondering what the big pluses would be- sounds like the way to go. Any other suggestions? I'm thinking QA1 shocks, and super stock springs-

QA1's are nice.

I wouldn't go Super Stock. Too much arch. I'm liking XHD Mopar ones or the Hotchkis handling leaf springs. Hotchkis said the lowered front spring hanger on B/E reduced rear roll steer. Hotchkis or Dr Diff sells those. The Dr Diff has one I think that moves the springs in.

I am a big fan of QA1 shocks but they have a slight problem with the rear sets.

The upper bushing is not thick enough and the shock will slide back and forth in the crossmember.

I had to put a 1/2 spacer on each side of the shock to make up for it.

I call Qa1 they send they never heard of this problem before.

Mind you i had 2 sets of these shocks installed one on a 71 cuda the other on a 69 RR both with the same problem.

this was about 3 years ago so i hope they fixed this problem by now

Actually, its the front mount location that's different. Hotchkis provides an adapter for the front mount in order to give more caster adjustment. I just got through installing a set on my Charger and they did make a difference.

I have the single adjustable on all four corners in my 66 Coronet. They are great shocks, really tame heavy duty spring rates and can be adjusted for your suspension and driving style.
