Just had a new set or Richmond gears put in my spooled housing using my old bearings by a professional shop here in town. Problem is on one rotatation of ring gear it binds in one spot..one more rotation it will bid in another spot about four teeth down the row...next rotation it will bind in the same spot as first rotation..so on and so on in these same two spots. I think I need to take it back to the installer...what do you think? By binding I mean it just stops from a smooth rotation spinning the yoke by hand..Thanks for any input

Too much runout in spool maybe ? How much backlash ? What does the pattern look like ?

Was this a name-brander ...or one of those 100$(or less) eBay spools ?

Check for runout and also check for burrs on the teeth edges.Sometimes you need to dress off the tooth edges with a fine file.

Spool is STRANGE engr.unit. Took carrier back to installer and they took it apart and put it back together..said problem was they did not clean protective coating put on to prevent corrosion..everything seems ok now.
