Hey guys been busy dealing with the purchase of my new daily driver so i havent been able to devote much time to the car however i did today. Cut some cancer out and got ready to finish up the back end...

Since the wheel tub piece i cut had some rust where it would be welded to the new on i cut it out and snagged a piece from high up on the tub to make it fit. Its not too large of a gap to fill so i shouldn't have any serious contour problems etc...

No,these young guns learn quick! You just keep BARRELS under it to catch all the rust! Then when your done, you try to flip it for astronomical amounts of cash!

Yeah,The BarrelBee! I like it! The only difference,is that these guys are out in the garage, doing all their own work, instead of writing checks, and playing video games! Great work guys!

Its not nearly as clean as it looks! Trust me its very messy. If i dont sweep the floor the old man yells so i just do it plus it keep you a little cleaner when rolling on the floor. I dont know about the barrel bee but its sure is a big old bucket of rust bee

Hey guys got some work done today! I finished patching up the wheel tub. I did each side at a time to keep it looking factory. Then i moved on to the quarter. Trimed it up some more and tached it on. Looks pretty good!

Thanks for the thumbs up! Did a little more tonight/this morning. I pulled the quarter off because what forgot to repair the little holes on the outer wheel tub. Pulled it off fixed them and primered it up...

Then aligned the quarter and welded it on completely...

After the quarter was on i mocked up the other pieces to see if i could actually put them in the way i hoped(together) and they will. Just gotta clean them up and then tack them in and get the trunk floor in and then finalize it...

Seeing it come back together is an awesome feeling. It was depressing looking at the back end cut to pieces and have nothing there at all.

You guys are doing a GREAT JOB. I have said it before and will say it again, I have a lot of respect for you guys in the rust belts working on these cars. We have such rust free projects out here that I would have never taken on such a rust repair job.

Looks like June is coming, keep up the good work.

The one I am doing with my son has just begun. The weather warmed up here in MO and we disassembled the interior. Now it is time to buy some parts and get started on reassembly.

Thanks for the support guys! Ed from Carlisle came by today to check it out in person. Hes a great guy, and a true mopar guy at that. Did a little work after he left...

Started in on the repair of the trunk floor(spots where the stupid brackets were that i screwed up...

I also had striped and primed the drivers trunk extension piece...

Then while i was doing that Greg ground down all the welds, strip the rails to metal, straitened what needed, and then primered them up with regular primer and weld through where needed...

Like Steve said, I stopped by on Monday to meet Steve and to see the car for myself. All I can say is WOW!!! I never would've tackled a job like that at 17. Actually, I'm not sure I'd want to deal with that car at any age

Oh yeah, if there are any skeptics that all of this work has been done by 3 high school kids I can assure you that it is!! You can tell from talking to Steve that he knows his stuff!! He might look like he's 17 but he sure doesn't act like it. He's very mature for his age and has a good head on his shoulders.

Regardless of how far along the car is by July, Steve and company have been invited to be the featured Young Guns at Carlisle so make sure to stop by and see the car for yourselves. I think Steve and his friends are perfect examples that a lot of us can look to for inspiration. Even if it's just a painted shell I think it's going to be great for people to see what can be done.

Keep up the great work guys!!

Ed

65PaceCar That means a lot! I loved watching the barrelcuda go together, one of the best threads to hit this board so that comment means a lot!

Thanks everyone and Ed metal work is going to hopefully cruise a little faster to help get us there, ive had greg over and hes getting better at it. Were still trying to get ryan to that point but hes coming too...

Did a little more today. I patched all the area in the trunk except for one, and they still need smoothed out some. I also removed the other trunk extension for an easier install and primered up all the edges that will be welded...

Ryan got started on removing the old speaker tray from the trashed dutchman panel...

Then Greg did his first metal work. He patched the one really rough tail panel area. He blew through some big holes but there fixed and its coming along and getting there. There is still more work to do...

And incase you havent noticed we have been using metal off the parts cars as our patch panels. Its just cheaper than buying the metal and its the correct gauge
