thaTS what i thought....might have some issues

kicking myself for never checking, but i got 70% leakage in #8 BUT 140 cranking comp, hits a lil over 100 on the first pump. Now in #1 i got 12% leakage and 155 cranking comp..

Of course this is dead cold engine, but i have been always checking this way for years, just to get a baseline ref point. THe reason im checking is i have made 5 passes so far on this engine, and it hasnt put a drop of oil into the can, UNTIL the 6th pass, now it seems to pull at least 2oz oil and ist spitting it out the three breather holes (Star can and pump)

try a cold and hot leak down, you can rock the rod and piston back and forth a small amount (3 to 5 degrees safely) to check ring seal. be careful if you rock it, don't do it with the tool hook up to the crankshaft with air pressure in the cylinder, stop the air and then rock it a little and then restest it

Mine was doing the same thing. (do a internet search, a lot of people have the same problem with the moroso one and high volume vac pumps)i ended up making my own with the inlet farther away from the top.
I have had this problem for years, here's my old fix lol:

I think he said star pump and can. What would the type of catch can have anything to do with how much oil that was being deposited into it?

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

the moroso cans have the inlet to close to the top and the oil finds its way out of the filter easier than it seperates from the air and drops into the bottom of the can. i was emptying mine everypass before i did something about it.

whats blowing my mind is that i made 5 passes on this engine, and it pulled very little if any oil, now the 6th pass on its pulling 2 or more oz every pass, and comign out the top (Star can). Whats confusing the hell out of me also is the cranking compression is good, but the leakdown is so poor,.....im confused, and the car is running so well also????
I made a better baffle for the valve cover, but i hate to hurt it bad.....

get it hot and do a leakdown. I don't know how you are oiling your rockers but if its unrestricted there is a ton of oil up top at the big end of the track.

I empty mine every pass also.
