The reproducion Big block- Hemi oil pans claim 6 qt.'s Is it an actual 6 or are they counting the filter. Also does anybody know the depth of the pan? and will it fit a A-body car?

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

If your asking about the 197-71 Hemi, 440 6 pak I use it It does hold 6 quarts in the sump plus one in the filter. That pan will hit the stock A body K member if you mount the motor in the stock location in relation to the trans mount. My motor is mounted one inch back in relation to the trans mount The idler arm does rub the oil pan on a hard right turn.

With 5 qts in the pan and 1 in the filter, my OEM 440 dipstick shows "full" w/ my repro Hemi pan, so that's as much as I've ever run in it.

Ran one when we first put the car together and as stated above it does hit the K-member on the passenger side. I gave it a couple of smacks with a hammer and cured it.. and yes it holds 6 + filter.
