That sucks. But fortunately, you have the parts to fix it.

FYI. I know you mentioned selling some parts from the donor car to help fund this project. There was a member asking in the tech area if anyone had some door hinges for sale (rebuildable cores). I steered him this way.

Yes it really does suck to find out we need to do the firewall. There is no easy way to do it with the inner fenders on the bee. I got the firewall off the parts car last night and its much better than the junk thats on the bee, the metal is a little thing by the heater venter but thats to be expected from the moisture hitting that unprotected metal over a 36 year range!

It's a shame for that 71 parts car to end up the way it did...the qtrs were so nice...Until someone took a torch to cut off the perfect rustfree pieces and used them as patches... Glad to see someone can use the bulk of it and got it out of there in one piece. I got some pieces off of it about 6-7 months ago...

Even sader, i know the guy that did it for his charger. And it gets better, he gave up on the project because his front end was rusted out. Now its just sitting

Jon, you pay for the ticket im there I love cali!

So more progress and this time on the bee. Drilled the cowl out and the brackets that go from the inner fener to cowl to frame rail to make the most room to get it out without taking apart the front end, and with about an inch of play i actually did get it off!

Now we just gotta clean up the seems and then spray some weld through primer on and put the new cowl on, havent decided when im going to do with the pillars yet, the ones on the parts car are really nice but i was thinking of just making some metal to put in instead of doing the whole pillar. Yet to be decided...

Steve

Wow that is a heck of a project. But it is a worthy cause.

There is just something fun about saying..."no it's not a charger, it's a Super Bee". Of course the next question is about where the wing is!

Cool car though. Have you givin any thought to color and engine choice yet? Sorry if this was covered earlier BTW.

Believe me, I've learned that too. I'm another young gun with a big project and a small budget. Here's my info.

The Project: Completely Restore a 1969 Charger with a budget of 10k

The Crew: One 15 year old; Cody

The Goal: Have the car completely done for senior prom in 3 years. I'm in gr.10 right now

Basic Info: I'm gonna attempt to restore my Charger in a period of 3 years with very little skills when it comes to cars and dodgecharger.com backing me up.

The Car: Originally a 318, now a 383 auto. Rusty quarters, front floor pans, torsion bar crossremember, rear valance and left rear frame rail. I basically got all the parts except for the windshield and a few interior things. Of course, I need alot of new sheetmetal. Colour scheme is going to be silver with a black R/T stripe and the original rare black C5X/C21 interior.

I'm in phase 2......disassembly. Its hopefully gonna go to the bodyshop in Spring 2008.

Keep up the good work on your Superbee guys!!!

-Cody

With you guys fixing up that car, I should have saved alot of the cars in the junkyards I've found!

That's a good thing though, it is really cool that you guys are getting stuff done on it. I hope to have my project done by the summer of 08.

Good luck

Ryan

Thanks guys! I think were planning on going with white for the color since it is our first paint job it will be a more easier colors to paint, plus thats the original color!

I was going to replace the whole pillar until i saw how they are attached. Then decided to cut drill off and then cut where needed. Heres the pieces and will hopefully get the passenger side in tomorrow, the drivers side need more metal underneath

Got the passenger side pillar fixed up with the donor piece. I got a few welds on it, just enough to hold it in place. It fits good and is much better than the old piece. It took a lot of time fitting this piece up and making sure i didnt take away to much!

Hey guys pulled the drivers pillar area off to get more into the restoration of the pillar

Here is the piece i cut off the other car. Its a little better dont you think?

Striped down the area to find the spot welds better and found a nice surprise

Heres the new piece, i just need to trim it and then weld it in!

Hey guys got some more done today since i did not work. I got the replacement inner pillar all aligned and welded on, then cleaned up the surfaces and prepped it with some weld through primer. Then i aligned and placed the exterior part of the pillar on. Its ready to go and just needs to be welded up.

Cool! Im doing a similar budget build on '70 charger. I have sold enough parts off the car that I wont be using to help keep the costs down.
Good luck with your project! Our crew consists of me (25) and best friend John (24).. We wished we had a garage though, all we have is a patch of concrete and welder, a small wallet and high hopes!
