First set of slicks I ever owned were a pair of used Hoosier mounted on new rims. Both held air with no problems at all. I replaced the Hoosiers with a paor of Pheonix, and they would lose at least pound between rounds. My friend mounted them on his rims and they would not hold air either. Went to a set of small E/T streets on the same rims, they would hold air at least a week. Went to a set of M/T slicks and they did about the same. I have another set of Phoenix now and they are ust as bad as the other pair. Anyone else have the same problem with Phoenix slicks? Maybe I will caulk the beads and fill em't w/ fix a flat! (kidding).

I did not screw the beads yet, not sure if they halps or not. I guess if I have to run tubes, I will.

We've always used tubes, and have been Firestone/Phoenix users for years.I'd go ahead an install the tubes, with good rotation and proper inflation while stored(20 lbs) the tires will hook great and will last a long time.

Do as HemiFred said. May still have to check them when parked for awhile.

Lemon Joy,... coat the inside completely, let set over night then coat the inside completely again. I currently have Pheonix mounted tubless and they will lose a little more than 1/2 a pound a week.

I have seen all brands of slicks hold and leak air. I have run Phoenix for about 7 years, but the last 3 or so were with inner tubes to take the torque my car applies (saves the sidewalls). I never had a pair leak any appreciable amount in 1-day. 3 psi over 7 days, yes. Liquid dish washing soap on the inside of the tires does help a lot.

I coated the inside of my M/Ts with Dawn 3 nights in a row then had them mounted and they dont hold air a week.

Screws and no tubes here, Dawn dish soap, mount the next day, never any leaks with Phoenix, M/T or Hoosier.

Phoenix Radial 32/13.6 slicks here. Put them on about 2 months ago. Coated insides with Dawn before taking them down to be mounted.

No tubes, don't lose any air at all.

Bob you don't keep a set of tires long enough for them to leak.

I will put tubes in the next set as the Dawn trick did not work with my M/Ts

I've had this set for 2 seasons.

I started using phoenix slicks 3 years ago. The first 4 sets would be flat 2 days after race, both tires. The next 2 sets don't lose hardly any. Sometimes if the temp is higher i have to let some out before next race, No tubes,no screws, no dish liquid. Wise told me they were bought out by a new company. The new company must of changed something to keep them from leaking. They still hook as good as ever however.
