First set of slicks I ever owned were a pair of used Hoosier mounted on new rims. Both held air with no problems at all. I replaced the Hoosiers with a paor of Pheonix, and they would lose at least pound between rounds. My friend mounted them on his rims and they would not hold air either. Went to a set of small E/T streets on the same rims, they would hold air at least a week. Went to a set of M/T slicks and they did about the same. I have another set of Phoenix now and they are ust as bad as the other pair. Anyone else have the same problem with Phoenix slicks? Maybe I will caulk the beads and fill em't w/ fix a flat! ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh2.gif) (kidding). I did not screw the beads yet, not sure if they halps or not. I guess if I have to run tubes, I will.

We've always used tubes, and have been Firestone/Phoenix users for years.I'd go ahead an install the tubes, with good rotation and proper inflation while stored(20 lbs) the tires will hook great and will last a long time.
Nautilus Racing- We use Superformance gaskets and Turbo Action converters/products.

Screws and no tubes here, Dawn dish soap, mount the next day, never any leaks with Phoenix, M/T or Hoosier.

Bob you don't keep a set of tires long enough for them to leak.
I've had this set for 2 seasons. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tonguue.gif)
