The tr will have the edge, probably by 30 + hp. See if you can scrounge one of the M1 mopar tr manifolds, They are a nice piece. On carb selection , carb type is going to be very important and based on cam, rpm range, final cubic inch size, head flow. My WAG is to stay with something in the 600 cfm to 650 cfm range, designed for this app.

on a 400 with roller cam and max ported 906 heads what intake would make the most power. victor with a dom. or a tunnel ram? and how big can you go on carbs for the tr? thanks
I have ran both. Currently an m-1 TR but the victor 4150 with adapter to a dominator works really well and easy to tune.

When the M1 TR came out in the early 90s Mopar Perf claimed it made more hp than the "Competitors" tunnel ram.
Keep old mopars alive.

In the 08 spring issue of Hot Rod mag do it your self series on Engines they tested 18 different intakes on a mild 383 then on a stout 383. On the stout 383 they used three tunnel rams and some other single carb intakes. Peak Tq/hp = Offy TR- 467/516, M1 TR - 468/537, Weiand TR- 494/540, Eddy Victor - 462/517. Not much difference except the price tag, to go with a TR you are looking at min 3x the cost. ![](http://i371.photobucket.com/albums/oo154/Super-freak/Coronet/P1010573.jpg)

Yeah, right.
I'll take numbers from an independent source thanks... especially against a NEW design; not something that the 'competitors' designed ten-plus years ago.
I remember reading the article, but I can't remember it well... Quote:

... but I'm guessing the 'competitor' wasn't Weiand! Kinda' hurts, since I got the M1 myself! Quote:

Not if you shop right. I picked up a new-in-box low-deck M1 with two good used 770 CFM AVS carbs, delivered to my door for about two bills and small change. About what the manifold would sell for. Add $50 for some homespun throttle linkage, and a couple extra fuel fittings... didn't go over $300; not close to triple the price of putting on a good second hand Victor and good used Dommy.
Hell, it even drives pretty nice on the street (both with 383 and 489 inch shortblocks); can't ask more than that! Well, unless you ask to not get out-horsed by a Weiand...
I have to go get my WAAAAH on now - oh wait, I just did. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh2.gif)
