Ever since I install my new 850 dp holley on my Stock out of the Box stroker 402 magnum with RT 2.02 heads I have had a secondary hesitation/ Bog. Just when you mat the pedal.
NO problems with the primary side !
Here is what I have done to it over the past 2 years >>> Installed a 50cc front aceleration pump.REAR is stock with a 50CC pump.
Jets are 81 front .. 80 rear
squirters are front 35 and 31 rear.. I went up in rear squirters 35 to 37 then to 45 .. The 45 seemed the best to correct the problem . But little bog/ hestitation is still there.
Oh yeah.. has the Brown CAMs in it pri. and sec. NO vacumn leaks anywhere ! Chopped the choke horn off this year also.
Also the secondary slot is adjusted to a square Slot .Approx .030 .
Carb is seal to hood... forced air hood scoop.
Any suggestions to eliminate this hesitation??

Have you tried to bend the rod that opens the secondaries via the primary linkage? Also, have you tried different cams on the rear acc pump? If you have to put a huge shooter in it to clean up a bog and it is still persisting I'd think it is a timing issue with either the secondaries opening or the pump shot/enrichment circuit.

So...are you guys getting the plow trucks ready yet?

ps...I seem to remember seeing a pink dual quad finned mopar at the sussex cruise in several years ago. Is that the car in the garage?

Yeah ! plow trucks are ready ,just that they probally won't have enough workers for the trucks come winter ,, the way they are cutting back here. and yes ,,, That could be me with the two tone pink 59 dodge .. It's has a dual quad 392 hemi in it for past two years now... I lve real close to sussex ... Awesome Car !! there was a pink and white dual quad one for sale up north awhile back.
back to the carb.......... did not bend any linkage on the carb. has a stock mopar electronic distributor curved 19* initial and 36* total. I have a dial back timing control in the dart for NOS purposes and I have turned the timing way down and it still will bog when you baggit . and I just gave it a good tune up last week.
I'm 99% sure this issue is in the carb
powervalves 45 front and rear . I just heard today that there is another cam for the 50 cc pumps. may have to try that.
This 850 dp does pull a lot of air in .. more than a 950 hp..

How is the fuel going to get to the power valve when you nail it.All the fuel is pushed to the rear of the bowl and the power valve is dry.Have you tried blocking the valve and installing jet extentions on the jets?

Jet extenions and new different float were installed a couple years ago. NO CHANGE . I do not have to be at a dead still stop and baggit for this bog to happen. I can just be cruising and any Speed and hit it to the floor Fast.. If I ease the pedal on down , it's fine.
Could it be that it needs more jet on the secondary side? I have 80 jet in rear now. Stock jets for this carb are 80 front 79 rear.

Yes , I have #45 power valves on each end.

try raising the rear (and/or front) float level a little bit.

I would plug the power valve and raise the rear jet number---i am thinking maybe 86 to start if you still have the 79's in it. I personally never ran a secondary power valve and never had an issue with the secondaries other than changing the cams.

I just went thru my carb parts and found the other Yellow accellerator pump cam for the 50 cc pump kit . does anyone out there know what the rate of discharge would be on that yellow Cam ?? It's very similar to the brown cam. I'm going to install that tomorrow and try it out .

That Yellow cam made things worse .
I changed the screw for the # 45 squirter with the Hole drilled thru it and that took care of the bog. It likes that big #45 squirter
Runs Pretty good now.I'd say 98% bog is gone !

Outstanding! I did not even think about the high flow shooter screw. Good troubleshooting there man. I'll have to remember that. Living at 4500' has made my carb tuning skills somewhat askew from living at sea level.

What's that beast run anyhow? Does it flex much being a ragtop?

I had the dart out last night and gave her hell ...she does not have that bog now. running excellent!
I ran an 11.50 before I got thrown off the track a few years ago . No bar in her yet. It's coming soon. That 11.50 is before I did anymore tweeking on her. inprovements now are X-pipe W/ ultra flows, new Glass hood and front bumper with lightened braces. also heater box out . . Little over 100#'s off the front end now .I need to order up a new pair of hoosier QTP . I got a pair of oval track asphalt tires to try out and they are just spinning .... they are similar to the ET street radial characteristics. , so I'm not even going to bother buying et street radials. My buddy has them on his 11.50 car on motor . . all they do is spin on the street. AT the track those et's tires are a different animal.
Front end comes up nice and straight .. NO twisting of body. It's tied ,, and also has Caltracs complete setup. great setup!
There is always more tweeking to be done.
