I'm swapping out the drum brakes in the front of my challenger for disk and I also want to swap the LCA's too. How the heck do I remove the torsion bars?
I have the LCA's hanging with all brake stuff removed, but can't figure out how to remove the bars.

Anyone know?

Raise the vehicle and use jack-stands. You need to back off the torsion bar adjuster bolt located in each LCA.

There can be retention clips in the torsion bar mount ends, that need to be removed with a screw driver.

Sometimes, torsion bars can be removed easily, but often times they are stuck in place from years of service.

There are clamp-tools that can be fabricated or purchased, which you clamp onto the torsion bar and hammer against (the removal tool) to dislodge the T-Bar from the mount.

Here is a good link about T-Bars and scroll down for tips on removal:

So I have everything loose, where on the LCA would I tap to loose the t-bar? Also, where is this retainer clip located? Is it in the back cross member where the t-bar is & which way should the t-bar come out, towards the front of the car or towards the back of the car?

Retainer clip is on the rear of the torsion bar at the rear torsion bar support. Those have to be removed or it won't come out. Make certain all tension is off the bar (adjuster is completely loose or out and lower bump stops removed). Torsion Bar slides to the rear of the car.

I always take a long bar and put between the K frame and lower control arm and push the control arm back, the torsion bar will slide back and come out if you have the clips out of them. Good Luck! Ronnie in Okla.
