Does such a creature exist??? I need an aftermarket Fuel Level (NOTE, NOT a Fuel Pressure) Gauge that will work with / be calibrate-able to the Factory Fuel Sending-Unit in my CJ-5 Jeep.

I tested the gauge, grounds, fuse, wiring and sending-unit. The gauge looks to be the problem.

What I'm "hoping" to find quickly, is a gauge that I could pick up (ideally) at a local autoparts store or quickly through an online source, cheap, etc.

I can't wait days and weeks, and if it costs more than $20 - $30, or takes longer to get, I might as well get the "correct" replacement gauge from a "Jeep" parts house like 4WD Hardware for $80.

SunPro sells Fuel-Level gauges, but they only work with their own proprietary SunPro sending units (at least according to their Product Guide.)

So, I need a gauge that can be calibrated to work with the Jeep Factory Sending Unit.

Note: Getting the Factory Sending Unit out requires that you drain the tank, disconnect the fuel inlet/overflow hoses, vent hoses and drop the tank out of the vehicle. The sending-unit is attached through an opening in the top of the tank.

Besides, the Ohm resistance from the Factory sending unit checks out as Ok per factory specs.

Please advise,
Thanks.

All you have to do is find a fuel gauge that works in the same Ohm range. Go to the auto parts store, check the back of the ones they have there and see if any match up. If not, they can order you a gauge easily.

I had the problem with my dart and picked up a gauge off of ebay. I think it was listed for a VW but it had the correct Ohm's and it works OK.

Why would you even post that?

Actually there are several systems and basically it is about what the reading is they send out, but I believe the one you need is 0-90 ohms

This is the style I used on my race car

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.
