Looking for any recommendations and installation tips for putting in a electric fuel pump on my 69 Dart.
Never put one in, so the more specific the better.

Thanks in advance.

Meaning, they are loud when they operate?

Meaning, even with flowmasters you will constantly hear the droning of the fuel pump.

You may say it is ok now, but...

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

X2 I just removed one (Holley) of mine. I had two. One running the carbs and the other for the nitrous system, I left the Nitrous, but replaced the carb pump with a Malory. Much better.

Ok, no Holleys then. I think the droning would drive me crazy.

Any suggestions on how to install?
Looking to keep it as stock looking as possible.

Mines mounted on rubber isolaters and it's not that bad.

I had a Holley HP 150gph which was not too noisy. However, it would quit running and leave me stranded. .
I switched to an Aeromotive which is louder than the Holley but it keeps running. I now find the noise comforting.

Generally speaking vane pump are very noisey.

Here's my thread from before.

https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=QuestionAnswer&Number=5223018

I went with a Carter. I didn't get the separate "isolator kit" (the fuel pump already comes with some rubber mounts) but you could buy it if you want. It's loud when the car is off but you can just barely hear it when it's running (stock dual snorkel intake and stock single tailpipe exhaust, so it's very tame)

Thanks for the link Mass Mopar. That helped, as well as other's feedback.

Regarding hooking up the electrical part of it, is it straightforward?

Interesting how this thread seems to revolve more around pump noise than pump output. Vane pumps ( all of them - not just Holley ) are usually noisey. They are also at the bottom of the pump feeder list and are often adequate for stock applications. Usually around $100. Gear-rotor pumps are quieter and are the pumps of choice for the serious racer. They start at near $200 and go up from there. If you are just cruising around town, stick with a good mechanical pump. If you are just criusing around town, but want your pump to be heard over the guys gear drive next to you, go with a Vane pump - Holley, Summit, Carter, etc. If you are driving a serious HP maker and run in the 11's or faster, you will need to step up to a quality gear-rotor pump such as a Holley HP125 or HP150 at minimum. Did I mention a 3/8" fuel line

yes, switched/fused 12V. EDIT I would wire in an on/off toggle sw in series(w the switched 12V) so you can keep it seperate from the ign sw to control it if needed

Is your Dart a very stock eng ? I only ask to know if you want a pump with built in regulation and no seperate regulator. I can say I use the Holley red pump that has the built in regulation on my sons Dart and my 63. It feeds both of them fine and they are mid 11 cars. As for fuel pump noise...........I grew up in the 60's and 70's and if you did not hear the electric pump it was not working. So a little fuel pump noise means nothing to me on my hot rod. That way I know it works. But I thought you may be looking for a pump that needs no seperate regulator. Ron

Electric pumps are PUSHERS, so out back near the tank and down low if feasible......

I've heard some pretttttty loud fuel pumps in my day! I had a Carter once that was fairly quiet, but NO idea what part# it was or anything...

It's a stock application, nothing heavy duty needed here. I think a vane type pump will be fine.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Will mount it as low as possible.

I'm sure I'll have questions when I try to install it... always do...

It's actually louder in real life.

For some reason all my old links went away.
