I have the Heddman headers on a 72 318 duster. power steering, manual brakes, 904. Bought them used pretty cheap (i thought). Guy i bought them off of said that a friend put them on and then decided not to run them. Was a dent in a tube, told me the pitman arm hit there. What i found when i put them on: clearance around steering box was fine, #3 tube hit collar on steering column, tubes were very close and/or rubbed on center link, pittman arm , idler arm. up against RH torsion bar. I thought maybe it was just the wrong application. Looked them up and found that they fit A,B and E bodies so they are correct i guess. Maybe i just got a bad set. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif) the tubes that go under the center link will be pretty close to the ground. Something to deal with, with these and the Hookers. I am big block B body guy, this is the first small block A body i have really messed with. It hasnt been too nice to me so far.

Ground clearance will be affected by ride height. Tom FWIW I have a deep 727 pan and it and the headers are same height. This is an old pic with the 904 actually. I can snap better ones if you need. My car sits pretty low and have navigated my fair share of speedbumps with them successfully. ![](http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/8404/tommycar009nl9.jpg) ![](http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/7940/carlisle09022.jpg)

I'm liking the look of those headers for my '74 Duster, $580 from Jegs.
Damn! States will not work with column shift, can anyone chime in on this?

Firstoff Toms car is a e-body so fitament is going to be different,my buddy recently put a set of Dougs on his '70 318 dart they come real close to the oil pan,and i believe he had an issue with the steering column..when he saw how nice my tti's fit he wished he had bought them instead...
