Thanks for weighing in on this.
Sounds like I've got 'em set waaaay too tight at 4 turns from
after they close, if the baseline is 3.5 turns total!
But, remember, I have 2 carbs - does this affect where you'd start out at?
BTW, that cam you sold me is no good; it idles funny... not like it did when it was stock!
Seriously, it sounds bitchin' and feels like the motor is making more power at half throttle than it used to at full whack!
Of course, better heads and another 100+ inches may have a little to do with that as well...
I'm going to take the truck down to the machinist's place Mon to have new oil restricters made for the heads (was an afterthought - I put some into the feed holes under the rocker shafts) to cut down oil flow (that grooved #4 cam bearing combined w/ the Harland Sharp rockers allow a LOT of oil flow) so I have better idle oil pressure. Then I'll start playing with the carbs and timing a bit.
