I have pressure washed them out and then rinse em with methanol. The methanol will remove ALL water and leave you with a dry clean tank. If there's rust inside then replace it. It's not worth the trouble to do otherwise.

I pressure washed mine at a do it yourself car wash place.

Mine had a few pin holes, but I was dirt poor at the time and had more money than time so I used the gas tank sealing kit sold by Eastwood instead of purchasing a new tank. Don't think the repops were as common at that time as they seem to be today.

The million dollar question: Did it hold up? how long did it last?

I finally put the tank back in a little over a year ago and haven't had any issues with it yet. At this point in my life I'd definately buy a new tank, but at the time that I was fixing that one I was unemployed. Keeping my fingers crossed.

In reality I probably had $75 or more bucks in the tank sealer and paints and a couple of days time when I could have bought a new one for $200. Live and learn.
