hello my light delay stopped working awhile back and i forgot how it works..thee yellow wires connect on a 3 way connector from light bar and steering column...gave them 12v with a power probe and both bulbs are good...is there anyway to test relay..does it work as a ground...if so ,is there supposed constant 12v somewhere...any help input would be apprecitated,,,tia..

M5-18P goes to fuseblock by way of:
Rallye - cigar lighter & clock
Standard - cigar lighter

M15-18P? Is that M5-18P referenced on that wiring diagram? If so, that should be the unswitched (constant 12v) accessory power tap coming of the main dash harness, and should be fuse protected at the box. Should be a red colored flat three position female bullet type connector on a pink wire. How does the time delay relay work? The relay needs constant 12v on the pink wire (X1A-18P), when grounded on M6-18Y*(via the left door dome lamp switch) you should have 12v out on J5-18Y, to illuminate the ignition switch, for a minute or two then go out.
There is a bi-metal spring contact that is heated up to provide continuity to the light, even after the ground is removed (door closes) it takes some time for the spring contact to cool down and open the circuit. Sometimes the relays can be easily repaired if inop. Carefully remove the cover check and clean the contacts. If the heating coil is open, may have to find another relay.

bee1971, the relay/key lamp system had a separate wiring harness on the b-bodies, and with the relay itself was taped to the dash harness close to the ignition/turn signal connectors. If the relay and harness is present there should be a corresponding single connector on a yellow wire for the lamp lead.
From the 72' FSM

72’ Plymouth b-body , I assume the e-bodies were laid out in a similar fashion but not certain.

Another angle, it should be noted, if not obvious, this is a non-rallye dash (pretty clean 72’ Satellite Sebring donor car). This dash harness was later converted to support a rallye dash and is currently in operation in my RR/GTX.

Pictures are worth a million - Thanx
Just had my eyes under the dash - Was about to remove the radio when i saw what i needed

Great news - Everything is there - Looks like nothing has been touched since 1971 - All the wiring is there nice and pretty - The yellow lead for the light itself was connected just like in the picture I was looking originally at a different yellow wire - So thats the good news

Bad News - The Relay itself is missing - Someone removed the tape and the three prong wiring harness is just hanging there with no relay

Any suggestions on a part # from a local jobber ??

I appreciate all your insight

Thanx again - Scott
