IMO 60 amp will be border line for your setup. Most of the Ultra/Super Mini alt are about 50 amps. Personal experience tells me these dont do a great job, period.
I used a larger GM 1 wire alt with the DMI setup, but which took some notching of the brackets etc. The alt I used was from a Mid 90's Pontiac Grand Am (small) that I had converted to a one wire setup and was smaller than the standard GM unit, but not as small as the Mini's. Out put was 70-80 amps, and worked very well for me.
I had under $50 in this alt.

Thanks Bob, I would like a 120 amp alternator, but the dmi bracket only fits mini style alternators.

I originaly was going to by a msd unit, but they don't sound real reliable on a street car.

Here is a crappy picture of the alt i was speaking of. You can use this size alt with the DMI brackets etc. The main bracket that picks up the timing cover bolts (one is 3/8 other is 5/16) on that setup required some notching so the case would have extra belt travel. Im almost 100% you can get these alt in 200 amp versions...
I will try to dig up another pic if it will help.
BTW this setup looks like crap, but I turned this engine 7500+ and never once threw a belt...a few 8K blasts I might add too.

I`ve been using a stock mopar 87 amp starter from Autozone for many years and it charges great and spins to 7500 rpm`s w/out any issues. This is a street car and I run an elec. water pump, elec. fan, fuel pump and of course all running lights and, I use two gel batts.

I'm running a 120amp denso from a ram with a dmi low mount alt bracket. I had to fab up a slotted arm to get it to work but none of the mini's put out enough juice.
I really wanted to to convert it to a gm 1 wire alt but all I could find locally was a 100amp.

Thanks Dodgem and Bob, I can get a bosch 120 amp alternator out here to suit the factory style bracket.

But I already own the dmi low mount alternator bracket and his machinable lower pulley.

I am also limited with room as this engine is in a early a body car.

I know the msd units fit, but have heard bad stories about reliability. Rob.
